So I just successfully upgraded the memory in my MS 1013, and according to its product page it is only compatible with DDR 333. In the next few months I'm going to be buying a MS 1223. I was under the impression I'd only be able to put DDR2 800 in it, but when I pulled the old RAM out of my 1013 today, it was DDR 400, which the product page lists it as being incompatible with. How would I be able to tell if the 1223 would take DDR3 1066 or 1333? Or better yet, does anyone out there happen to have a 1223 that is running DDR3 that could let me know? I know that DDR2 and DDR3 are phyiscally different, so compatibility is much less likely compared to DDR 333 vs. DDR 400, but it doesn't hurt to ask, since Intel's site claims the chipset supports DDR3. Or those of you with different MSI models that are running a different RAM speed than what is listed as compatible, is it likely that the 1223 can also run faster RAM? Thanks!

Even if the chipset is compatible if the modules can't fit inside then they are not compatible with the laptop...

The Reason why the DDR400 ram worked is because it will automatically downclock to DDR333 speeds, and since they both are DDR, they are uberly compatible.

There are a few reasons you can't use DDR3 ram in your computer:

DDR2 and DDR3 ram are physically different.
    Different Voltages.
    Different Speeds.
    I got nothing else...

All in all, as stated before, not going to work.
