I am getting 2 months off work to be an at home dad, need a new laptop.

What's the word on the 1060M and 1070M MSI notebooks? I saw some by MSI at Fry's Electronics.

If possible I would order online to give you lots of options (MSI, Clevo, Asus, Gigbyte etc..), what size and form factor are you looking for (i.e. 15" and thin or 17" and thick etc...) There is no 1060m or 1070m, just straight up desktop 1060s and 1070s albeit slightly slower. But the performance is huge, a 1070 laptop is around 980 Ti level for performance. Largest performance increase ever so I'd say pretty darn good :p

    Edit: Also a budget.

No mobile version, good to know. But the 1060 and 1070 (mobile or not) are out and I was just curious as to what folk thought of the MSI (specifically) notebooks that have these GPU's.

Ok well in that case. The GT series machines are really good, with pretty solid cooling and specs. GE machines are a bit worse all around but still ok. The GS machines are built fine, but are so thin they tend to have heating issues.

This is too broad though again, what screen size and form factor do you think you want.
