I'd say take it out on the laptop, but it sounds like you might be returning it :p

You guys need to remember that the specifications for MSI notebooks will differ by region. For example, UK's GX620 comes with the P8400 instead of the P8600/9500 like the US, but their GT735 comes with a 1920x1200 screen opposed to the US model's 1680x1050 screen.

It appears you may have bought the laptop exactly as advertised, but the seller may have used the wrong specification from the US site.

Regardless, he is still entitled to a refund or some sort of discount. It clearly states on the microanvika site 1920x1200

You're absolutely right. Since the GT725 is not even listed on MSI's UK site, the seller goofed up and I say it is the seller's responsibility to offer him some sort of compensation. Go after the seller, not MSI.

Sorry about the screen buddy. Well on the bright side, at least you're not stuck with a 1440x900 screen like some of the recent P-7805u owners. I say if the seller can give you some money back, use it to get a screen on eBay and switch it out yourself. Now which laptop has the best 17" screen? ;)

now that we all know the UK version has 1680 reso, i hav got a new question for you guys:

Should I go ahead with it or cancel? Would I notice the diff between 1680 and 1920? Whats the point of blu ray if i dont have full HD?

On one hand, you will never need to buy a bluray player if you have a 1080p TV, since you can just hook up your laptop. Plus 1680x1050 isn't low res by a long shot. Sure, its not 1920x1200, but its still decent in my mind (granted, my laptop's max resolution is 1024x768)

Some PS's don't specify the watts unfortunatelly. It should say, on the output: 16v ??a(amps) ??watts

i too think 1680x1050 is good, im running 1400x1050 on my current laptop and having seen and used my bro's computer which runs 1680x1050 i find it looks fine with a lot of space for whatever you want displayed on his 22" LG HD LCD...

Hey faisal, how loud is the GT725 in the different modes (turbo, eco, idle)?

In Germany the GT725 is also sold with the 1680x1050 resolution  It will be available next week for 1299,- EUR (silly MSI support told me it would be available in *july*)

EDIT: is it DDR2 or DDR3 Ram?

true but this is the first laptop out with the ATI 4850, tomorrow who knows which company (my bets on ASUS) will bring out a laptop to nearly the same spec for a cheaper price...

but with the first scores and benchmarks mainly being 3D mark 06 being 9800 as the highest so far.. means it beats the offerings that sell the Nvidia 9800 gts for £1200+..

Not really. In the ASUS forum there's an overclock the 9800M GS thread, and as of this morning a guy got 9703 in 3DMark06 @ GTS clock speeds...

Anyways, is 1920x1200 really that big of a deal to you? I'm stuck going with the lower one if I end up option for this as the higher end US model is out of my price budgeted for a new nb. Even going to the 627 would only get me BR DVD on the high end model but same screen res, and I don't care ta all about BR...

forgot about that laptop, but then again that asus laptop isnt available in the UK yet, dont know if it even will be to be honest..

and 1920x1200 personally i think is too much unless you really need to it and will use it..
