-
-
So next week some time if it is right.
Edit: I misread the article. It says it will be released some time after Computex which ends June 8. So a 2+ weeks left. -
Yeah that date seems about right. We at least know it's a June release

With those Sandisk X100 mSATA 64GB replaced with 2 Plextors M5M 128GB the SuperRAID could make sense
A single 128GB M5M reaches 4K speeds of 30MB/s read and 60-70MB/s write. Those are the most important aspects of a SSD' snappiness
Put 2 of them in RAID0 and you reach 28MB/s read and 125MB/s write.
On top of that Plextor's reliability and Marvel's strong reputation as a solid performer and I'm sold!!
I won't miss much my 840 Pro 256GB -
-
-
The SuperRAID and a pair of Plextor M5Ms 128GB are my goals -
I wonder how good SanDisk SSD are.

Looks like I might join the rank of the GT60
Any pictures leaked yet, on how it will look like? Last I remember, the barebones looked very similar to GX660R. I wonder how GT60 will be like. -
Pretty sure it'll look like the GT60-0NE with some minor changes

I too was thinking about getting the GT70 then remembered I will have to travel with it, nothing wrong with the GT70 (Striker your still the man) but it's just too big and bulky for my needs. -
The very first GT60-2OD of the Forums!!! Edit: Full Review being worked on.
Those are a few photos I quikly snapped as I tore into the box! The laptop is amazing so far. I love the keyboard, and I am seriously loving this display. I've never had a matte display, and I really like this. The laptop reminds me of everything I love about my GX660, but with all new enhancements. The brushed aluminum palm rest is nice and cool to the touch. The keyboard types like a dream, and the backlit is something I've been missing since my Asus G51.
The laptop itself came in the MSI box shown above. Nothing more! I was seriously surprised at that. No receipt, no invoices, nothing! Though it arrived in perfect shape, flawless from what I can tell, and no dead pixels! Yay! Also I thought it had a ton of bloatware, but after going to uninstall things programs, I found that all the programs are actually for this laptop. I will have to investigate these more today. Luckily I am on vacation and have this new toy to play with.
The laptop feels extremely study, and has a nice build quality. I love that MSI no longer has the goofy lighting on the laptop, other than the glowing white MSI logo on the lid, and backlit keyboard. It looks more professional and quality with the brushed aluminum lid.
The keyboard types nicely and has great responsiveness and key feedback. It does take a bit more pressure to get the keys to register than my older non SteelSeries, something that I will have to get used to. But there is no flex at all in the keyboard. Did I mention how nice the backlighting is?
Typing this, and listening to music through spotify, and downloading a few games in the background the laptop is very quiet, I can't even hear any fans. I'm not sure if its running on the 780m or the intel graphics. I'm not sure how to switch those yet, I will figure more out later. The GPU and CPU temps are great while multitasking though. I am siting at around 45C across all cores, and 39C on GPU. Its a very warm day today, and no AC is on in my house.
The display is extremely nice, and actually one of my favorite features of the laptop. Never had a matte type display, and wow!! It feels easier on my eyes, and I love not seeing my reflection all day. The bezel around the screen also is a rough plastic, which again nice that it isn't the same glossy bezel I am coming from. No more fingerprints! The viewing angles on the screen are awesome! I can seriously put the screen all the way down to near 0 degrees and still read the text with slight color wash out. Very impressed with this screen so far.
And now a few 3dmark11 runs...
First 3mark11 Run all stock on drivers that shipped with the laptop.
Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16F4 score: P7394 3DMarks

I want to say that MSI laptops are seriously amazing. MSI has come a long way since my GX660 in terms of build quality and overall design. While much of the laptop seems familiar, there are many changes that make this laptop much more professional looking. Anyone considering a new laptop should seriously consider MSI laptops. As long as this laptop lasts me like my last MSI laptop, it will take a lot for me to ever change sides and go Alienware, Clevo, or Asus. They just don't seem to offer what I want in a laptop. I don't want my laptop looking like a freaking spaceship or having alien heads all over it. MSI, while they do offer the Dragon series, they also offer the barebones, and their branded laptops are also not over the top. Also nobody comes close to MSI speakers yet. And don't even say that you use headphones or external speakers. That is great, but I can take my laptop with me anywhere and keep the music rocking without having to lug around any speakers. And yes they do sound great.
Bottom line, MSI is a serious contender in the gaming laptop market, and they are only going to continue to gain more of that market, and I look forward to all of their future releases. -

All kidding aside, you guys enjoys those new GT60's, ya hear?
-
Awesome! Great pics, looks like MSI stepped up their packaging
Can't wait for more! -
beautifulhow did u get it so early? lucky duck
-
They are for sale all over retailers websites.
-
Hey talon, how heavy is the gt60? I'm deciding between this or the next clevo 150 and I want portability.
-
Its about the same weight as my old GX660, so around 7lbs? Go with the MSI, I promise you will not at all be disappointed. They make a seriously good product. I am biased as I have never owned a Sager/Clevo, and I am coming from an MSI GX660. But my GX660 was the best laptop I've ever owned. It was super upgradeable. Always worked, never had any issues, and still is a beast almost 3 years later (with upgrades obviously).
-
I can vouch for Talon's comments. I have used several notebooks with an averags of less than a year per machine from different vendors. MSI GX660R was the only machine I stuck with for almost 3 years due to how awesome, upgradeable it was, and never gave me problems.
Looks like the GT60 is a winner, I envy you! How's the boot speed? I see you have 1 SSD and 1 HDD, nice config. Get more pictures of the machine! PM btw -
-
You know, I could be PMing him about his GX660R
hehehehe -
I'm confused as to how the sellers can get away with selling an unreleased laptop early. You would think they would be under legal obligation to hold off on the sales till the release date.
Anyways more pics please! -
Hi!
Test 3Dmark Vantage ? -
-
What do you mean it isn't released yet? I am finding it posted for sale all over the internet from various outlets.
-
Actually, using google, yeah there appears a lot of places sell the machine, without much info or description haha xD
Some people just don't care about doing things illegally. In the end, it is not the fault of customers, but the places that sell them, so customers just take advantage of the opportunity brought to them!
I shall wait and buy from my preferred reseller -
Talon
I'm curious, what slot does the unit have for the SSD? Care to take a picture?
Is it a 3 slot SuperRAID or a 2 slot like older models? -
Although I'm very tempted to order now, I believe waiting for it to be officially released and ordering from Gentech will be worth it
-
I want my BF3 to finish downloading so I can fire it up!
-
I am curious about this too! It should be like the new model with 3 slots but I don't know x_x hopefully it will be
I shall lend you my home connection so you can download things! 200Mb/s ftw! -
Most I can expect is 1MB/s (wireless I don't know wired)
My one job got something like 6MB/s wired and I was amazed. -
Freaking BF3 is like 35GB for the game plus all expansions! Ugh like 12GB to go still.
-
Need to please my eyes.. -
Working on it
-
Haha, the fastest I have downloaded a file was around 19.8 MB/s but it really depends on the server you are downloading or connected to. Not all servers accept maximum download possible, and most are limited per client.
I do love my connection hahabut i wish it was stable 200/200 Mb/s (it is symmetrical). I usually get 150/120 or so during peak hours.
-
On a different note, my wife bought me a laptop for Father's Day, so I am not allowed to buy this one. I am a bit worried about which one she bought. She knows I am looking at MSI, so we will have to wait and see!
