--Why I recommend Gentech? Simply because its the best service I've ever recieved. Fastest shipping ever, Ken is extremely helpful and supportive and offers a lot of freebies. Most resellers just care for their customers until they sell the laptop. However, GentechPC is different, they have never let me down on support.

All notebooks come with:
- MSI 2 Year North America Limited Warranty / 1 Year Global Warranty
- One Year Accidental Damage Protection Included
Don't overlook MSI's warranty requirements folks! Registering the notebook is simple enough, but requires an extra step beyond 'online' registration. After doing this online, you will receive an email that states:
Note: Your product registration is not complete until we receive your proof of purchase in the mail, which will not only confirm your product's warranty, but will also update your warranty's expiration date in our system.
I point this out because according to MSI's website, they must receive this within 30-days from the 'date of purchase'..... so don't delay! Also, after completing this process, I recommend later logging back onto the registration site, to follow-up on your warranty 'status'.

----Unboxing & Review----
Unboxing:
First of all the packaging:
-Your new GT60-2OD will ship in a double box that's slimmer and sleeker then the previous gen's packaging.
-I think MSI definitely upped their packaging, it looks more sleek and professional than the previous gen's packaging, especially the black interior as you open the box.
-The whole notebook is covered with an MSI Gaming Series black cloth to protect it against scratching during shipping.
-As for accessories, you'll find:
+Battery
+Power adapter
One major improvement I really liked is the 'right-angle' power cord so that should avoid damaging your power plug
+Quick start guide & driver cds
+Exclusive Gaming Series Sticker
-Here's the notebook in the protective cloth and out of the box:
-As you remove that, you'll find the screen covered with another white cloth:
-Remove that, and you'll find your awesome brand new GT60:
-One thing I loved about the screen is that they replaced the glossy bezel with a matte one, which is much less distracting and less suspect to scratching. MSI is really listening to its customers!
-Here are the stickers you'll find:
-Different sides of the notebook:
-Touch bar changed a bit, we now have a media button instead of turbo (which is automatic now), cooler boost, backlight control, airplane mode instead of wireless( which is a nice addition consider the mobility of this notebook), screen off, and a G button instead of the eject(useless). The G button brings you a control panel i which you can control your wireless/bluetooth/power mode/brightnes/camera...etc. It also has a special easter egg inwhich if you press it when the computer boots it keeps the processor overclocked
- MSI also added an LED indicator on the camera :as requested by many
-Here are some pictures of the amazing steelseries backlit keyboard:
-Finally, lets take a look under the hood (the most important part):
-SuperRAID 2
-Adapter removed:
Here's the cooling system(note the bridge between cpu & gpu):

Hey xMAR99,
Glad to see ya back for MSI's next round of gaming awesomeness!
-
Yeah now this is the laptop I've been waiting for, hopefully it won't take too long for resellers to start stocking these bad boys.Love all the new features especially the Cooler boost reduces heat and noise means more room to OC
So you guys think the 780M will really be a huge improvment over the 680M? -
Even without SuperRAID this notebook is gonna fly!! Just place a large (256GB being the sweetspot) SSD in there and you're done for -
-
So any ideas for what the base price for these beasts might be?
-
-
xMar -
Any idea of a release date?
I am in the market now, and I was thinking about buying the GT60 ONE. If this is due to come out soon, I think I will wait.
Also, how did you get your current laptop to 4-5 hours of battery life. That and the gpu are my top priorities, so I would be interested to know more!!! -
As for the battery life, I set the power mode to power saving, which is ideal for internet browsing/light work along with the integrated GPU being active. Its notable that the integrated GPU on the next gen is 2-3x more powerful than on the current GT60-0NE and saves more power, so you won't sacrifice performance for battery life. -
Here's hoping it will not be anymore than 2000!
I look forward to having a top of the line system for once!!!
Thanks xMars! -
I wonder if Ken @GentechPC can confirm the price range -
As far as release, you are on point with the first week of June. I am going to try to get this through GenTech, but that depends on the overnight shipping! -
Yeah, pricing should be similar to current range but a bit more, considering it is a step up in hardware but on a similar level than current machines. Plus previous versions will coexist for a while.
-
I am getting this one or the new 15 inch Clevo.
Just curious does anyone know if the MSI barebones gets released along side these ones or if you need to wait a little longer? -
Here is the URL for the pricing from original source:
SOURCE
Expect it to be around $1,974.00, which includes the 128GB mSATA. -

which one got the best build quality ? Clevo or MSI ?
-

Keyboard and sound make me go MSI.

-
I wan't GT60 Dragon Edition! too bad it's only for the GT70 series.
-
Actually I do notice them a bit. I've tried in chronological order:
1. Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120gb
2. Sandisk Extreme 240gb
3. OCZ Vertex 4 256gb
4. Samsung 840 Pro 256gb
Between the Vertex 4 and the 840 Pro it's not noticeable as they are both fast. In regards to the Mushkin and the Sandisk, I do notice the snappiness in opening software. Even on boot times. The 840 Pro boots my windows 7 in 14-15 sec. With the older drives it usually hanged around 19 sec.
However yes the 840 Pro line is a bit more expensive than other drives (samsung getting a bit gready here?) -
Does superRAID come in different configurations/sizes?
If it comes with 256GB versions I think that's plenty of space I mostly use an external drive for most of my other storage needs. -
Even still; I'd rather have the safety of one drive that risk of two times higher failure with raid configs :v
-
--
ALSO, KEN HAS RESERVED ONE FOR ME
CAN'T WAIT -
-
-
-
I will be buying through Gentech, if I can grab one on day one!
As soon as pre-orders are available, I will toss my name on that list -
Excellent choice, for the GT60. I really loved my GX660R back in the day and it served me 3 years even on field engineer use. Such format/size with performance is great. Right now I am going for 17inchers because I don't need to move them as much, but my heart will always be prefering 15.6 inchers
-
I still have my friend's GX660R right now. Very nice notebook. I'm planning to sell it
This new GT60 is getting very tempting
Time to upgrade -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The super raid has a traditionally taken one of the 2.5" slots so you would need to put an mSATA + HDD in or put the HDD in the optical bay via a caddy.
-
I have been meaning to try the whole HDD caddy on the optical drive. But I rarely need that much space to store files hmmmm....
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Only need to do it if you need the space.
-
I think since the advert of huge TB external HDDs, I have find myself without the need of huge space in my notebooks. 1TB total is more than enough for most of my games, programs etc.. pics and videos etc go to external!
-
) what does a GT70 do better than a GT60? Better cooling ? Have more features? Better screen? Aren't they basically the same just different sizes?
I might go 17" this next time but trying to justify switching from a 15.6". -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Screen size and the odd bios option layout.
-
The big thing about the GT60 is that its way more portable than the GT70. Basically, my GT60 is a desktop replacement that can be carried everywhere I go. It won't disappoint
-
At a software level, well they have differen BIOS, but that's it. Whatever you can play on GT70 you can play on GT60, and viceversa, and it should be identical to near identical performance and cooling. -
A thinner, glossless besel around the screen would have been better in regard to aesthetics in my opinion (aluminium too
) but I'm asking too much maybe.
The 17.3" screen is the sweetspot on a FullHD resolution but for someone who travels often it is a bit big and heavy.
The GT60 however leaves more desk space for other stuff
If a better monitor is needed just get a nice 22" screen with the 150$ price difference between the 2 models -
-

I LOVE YOU KEN!
LOL!
-
-
Yup I too sold my GT780DX to get a GT60 just because I move from place to place often. Even though I use a notebook backpack (with padded shoulder straps), after a while my shoulders get tired. I carry other stuff with me which add wheight on top of the GT780DX's own wheight. Those ~0.5kg make a difference between the two models. Also with the 15.6" the backpack can fully secure in place the notebook in it's compartment. I could'nt do so with the 17.3"
I'm using a Swissgear 17" backpack. Tried with a GX660R and it feels much better, and so will with a GT60 -
.
My current GT60-0ne hasn't let me down in anyway and I'm sure the 2OD will dominate.
ONLY A WEEK OR TWO LEFT -
wow im really glad i found this thread, i was definitely like 1 day away from ordering the GT60 0ne 403
Ken, can you reserve one of the 2OD's for me too?
Thanks man
