What would be the best for gaming? (BF42, BF2, HL2, Unreal, etc)

Would the WSXGA run ok at a lower resolution if it has to? (to increase FPS)

I would really love the wsxga resolution but wouldn't want to sacrifice game performance, or quality of the screen in bright lighting. :(

Gaming will be fine at other resoltuion. Usually text is where you have problems running at non-native resolutions.

Higher screen rez the better :D

as for gaming you still want the WSXGA you can lower the rez to up your FPS
but with a x1600 I dont think you will need to anytime soon. :)

I'd get the WSXGA, it's the best resolution for a 15.4" screen in my opinion, and WXGA looks weird on a 15.4" screen to me.

Well I would definitely prefer the WSXGA+ because for me higher res = better. But I was just concerned about that res with games, I don't want the text in games to look real bold or blurry when the resolution is not at it's native.

I have never noticed it in gaming on my desktop so I don't think you will notice it too much on the laptop. WSXGA+ though if you ever plan on playing GuildWars, saw it on a friends acer 8204 and all I can say is OMG!

The only reason I have a vote for WXGA is because, for those of us who prolly won't be able to buy a new laptop every 2 years (or less), the lower res will help you run the games that come out after that amount of time. At some point, the x1600 ain't gonna be enough to push a WSXGA screen at it's native res.

Now if you do have the ability to update more often, i say WSXGA all the way. And also: I'm taking donations for the "Buy Losati a laptop in 2 years" foundation. So please, feel free to donate =)

    EDIT: Clarity.

You could always turn down the resolution. It won't look quite as good but it wouldn't be bad either.

Yeah, but due to the nature of LCD monitors, it takes a disproportinately large hit in image quality.
