Dear MSI users,
As of now there have been new Windows 10 updates released.
------------------------------------------------------------
Please do not update Windows 10 as of now!
------------------------------------------------------------
The updates (15063.13) and (15063.138) for Windows 10 are causing insane amounts of issues and reportedly only for users without a clean install. The new MSI GT73VR-7RF is mainly targeted with those issues.
Wonder why the factories can't make a clean install for $3500 machines...
Fix / Repair is available at the end of the thread!
15063.0 Tested / Flawless
15063.13 Tolerable
- Can't boot-up the machine after an hour without using a power adapter!
- Sleep mode issues (After 15 minutes laptop completely shuts off / data loss)
- Booting to a black screen
Fix: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4453
- Dragon center issues (Unstable, saving issues...)
- Nahimic Audio issues
Fix: availaible on MSI Website
- more reports coming...
New 15063.138 Intolerable
- Can't switch from or to integrated graphics (net.framework error)
- Dragon Center has no GPU data
- SCM app failure
- Games crash (League Of Legends)
- Apps won't work properly
- more reports coming...
MSI has updated Nahimic Audio but hasn't really thought of other applications that are critical currently.
Net.Framework could be the main issue

FAQ:
System Restore failed 0x80070005 / other...?
- Please make sure your Anti-virus has been uninstalled.
- Don't let the display go to sleep (helped me)
- Try Safe-Mode.
I chose the wrong recovery... How do I go back?
- Go back to Step 3 and instead Select "Undo System Restore" in the main page.

I don't understand this that people MUST jump on new ****y from the Redmond Morons HQ before most of the bugs is ruled out. Some machines will be more affected than others. The history shows this every single time!!
And after they have jumped on the new Crap and discover problems... They wonder why they now have problems and ask what's wrong

Funny how OEM's such as Nvidia release fixes that Microshit can't seem to get right in the first place

One thing that does tend to randomly fail after a series of updates, is SCM. That one you just need to reinstall, not wait for an update. It's probably one of the more susceptible to failure software in windows 10.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

I use an old, unusable, 6RF variation.
Though my point was that you don't really need to wait for an update for that software. But an update is always good, particularly if it fixes things.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

SCM generally works for all models within the past one or two generations.

I have problems with Dragon Center.
Unable to run it, tried to uninstall and install it again, but no success.
Anyone else with the same issue? Any ideas? -

hahaha, Dragon Center, think is the last software you are supposed to install. This is because dragon center integrates functionality of other MSI software, so it requires other things to be installed and working correctly, with most likely need of a latest release depending on the version of dragon center.
Personally I don't use it, but I do use the other individual programs, like Silent Option for fan control, Steel Series keyboard control etc, as stand alone. I overclock directly in BIOS and if I need software based OC I use Throttlestop or intel XTU. -
I'll try to use Silent Option ...
Thank you for your time. -

Thank you for posting about this. A couple days ago, my GS43VR froze when I tried to exit Civ VI; when I force-closed the game in Task Manager, I got a .net framework error, followed by a BSOD. After that, I could not boot my computer without the the dGPU remaining on and my entire computer freezing seconds after the desktop loaded; I couldn't even access the Task Manager. After numerous attempts to fix the issue using Windows recovery options (booting into safe mode and disabling all start up programs; running chkdsk through the command prompt; trying to fix startup errors; using system restore), and nothing working, I eventually used Windows recovery options to re-install Windows 10 entirely. This worked, and I at least can access my computer again, although I did receive another BSOD while playing Civ VI again the other day (but no .net framework error this time). I'm also now having audio issues where the right speaker is intermittently cutting out while music is playing. I'll try updating Nahimic and other MSI programs and taking the steps discussed in this thread.
So annoying... -
I have gotten thee BSOD several times in the last week...not playing games..just looking at web pages.

Just logged in to RalfTech's laptop, updated all his drivers as they were ancient which is why he was having a lot of issues. Then ran Windows updates and updated it, now everything works fine with no crashes.
I also disabled his Fast Startup to solve the laptop not powering on issue when he closes the lid
