    Hi,

First post here. I purchased the new GS60 Ghost Pro 3k-046 a few days ago. So far I've been loving it, and I wanted to go ahead and update all my drivers. Well, I did that, updated the EC firmware, updated the BIOS, chipset, the works. Everything functions great but I seem to have lost all sound. My speakers show up under audio options, and the meter next to them even shows that they should be making sound, but nothing is coming out. I'm not muted or turned down, and I'm really at a loss for what this could be from. Microphone still works. Any help?

Well, I fixed it. Not entirely sure how, but I believe it had something to do with the system not restarting completely. I uninstalled anything audio related and tried to restart, the system decided to hang. Forced it off, and it wouldn't reboot. Plugged it in to get it to start up (not sure why that was necessary), and did a cold boot. I'd been messing with it for a couple hours trying to get my sound back and restarted multiple times, so hopefully it was a one-off quirk.

Alright, but if there's still issues then best to update the BIOS & EC, then restore the OS to factory settings if issues return.

Thanks. I was hoping to keep that as a last resort so I'm happy it got sorted. If nothing else, I bet it was a botched driver install. Wiping them all out, then reinstalling and restarting individually did not make the problem return.

Quick question; is it normal for my unit to not like starting up when it isn't plugged in? When I initially got it, it wouldn't turn on so I assumed the battery was dead. I plugged it in and it started right up, charged somewhere near 80%. When the audio came back, I had to follow the same procedure. I'm not sure if that's something strange with my unit or if that's just an MSI thing.
