Im not specializing in OC neither live as OC enthusiast but just tried it with my newly setup MSI, however I do have less time every now and then to do anything on it when free time allows I take priority on other things rather than gaming and etc, hence opened price check thread in marketplace for my rig as it will only loose its value in years to come if Im not using it to its potential and still decide to sell it when at last will have absolutely zero time for anything but family. However its a destroyer in relation to any games or data processing and encoding as its one nice portable unit with so much potential, but I may as well let it go if someone genuinely will offer anything reasonable... not yet decided on that

 

I originally bought my Medion so I could game in the living room with my family, I must have 70 games on steam I've yet to try, I also have a PS3 with a backlog of around 30 games untouched.
I just can't get into gaming at all now.

Wow, far cry 3 maxed out 40fps - 75 fps.

 

40fps min in Far Cry 3 is ultra good on GX660. But shouldn't you pay the remaining fees for 940XM you have bought from me ?

thanks, I will have a copy of it tonight too so we can compare FPS, another friend of mine has 3610qm and 7970m in his clevo and he said he couldnt run super smooth on all ultra settings he said benchmark was somewhat around 25-30fps max average was 20-24fps something like that, so Im just curious, try every option turned on and to max and ultra, waiting for your scores.

my AMD drivers sukc so bad... I need to update them again if VSYNC OFF / MSAA OFF / Texture Filter set to trilinear I get min 34fps / average 50fps / max 159fps, the rest on ultra... double check your settings for me please, check carefully... I kinda doubt its so much driver dependant ... thanks

 

Why do you still use old Catalyst?
Download 12.11 beta 11, they solve a lot of DX9c issues too (and Skyrim frequent flickering and artifacts)...

 

where did you pull that I use old catalyst? Im using 12.11 b7 which gives more FPS in any game I tried

 

I prefer stable and problem fixed drivers first, then performance. Anyway 12.11 b11 should be better under all aspects...

 

in benchmarks it was in gaming it wasnt, thats a fact

 

But b7 still have many problems unfixed, especially with DX9c games...

Consider that b11 fixed/improved many other games, over b8...

12.11 b11 seems a good release, especially for single GPU 7xxx systems

 

works well for me I dont game alot, and anything that classic on dx9.. I dont play lately at all... theres not many good games out that would excite me as such ;D new hitman wouldnt be the worst now so Im kinda trying that out from time to time

 

I'm still having problems getting the power jack and matching plug for my Medion. I've messaged a few ebay sellers and they haven't gotten back to me.

I only want to do this once and would like to use an oem part but the only jack that's certified as oem is in the link Ultra kindly posted, unfortunately it's an American seller and I would like to sort this out asap rather than wait for postage.

I don't have my old plug from my adaptor to take measurements, I know it's supposed to be 2.5mm by 5.5mm (don't know length) but the last one of that size I bought from Maplins didn't fit and didn't seem heavy duty enough to accommodate the wires from the adaptor anyway.

I'm considering soldering the wires straight onto the motherboard just to get this up and going before Christmas.

1. What driver / firmware combination is the best (stable, fast) for USB 3.0? (Could anyone upload original firmware? I forgot to make backup of mine )

2. Is there any other driver / firmware worth updating? (Except graphics of course )

3. Did anyone notice worse touchpad response after updating from default Windows driver to Synaptics? (mainly worse scrolling recognition)

4. Is there a way how to make multitouch work on this laptop?

5. Should I use both Intel Rapid Storage Technology and Samsung Magician software with Samsung 830 SSD?

And even after this you have not paid me the remaining money. If I knew it from beginning, I would not sell i7 940XM for 198 pounds shipped, cause this is how much you paid me after all.

1. NEC USB 3.0 driver from MSI download page.
2. Except BIOS? Not really.
3. Yes, it's possible. Does your Synaptic driver have options to control precision/pressure recognition?
4. I know that some Synaptics modded drivers unlock multitouch, but you might still have the option of enabling the feature in your driver configs. Check them first to make sure. If not, you can try the modded drivers here/, they shouldn't break anything and there have been many people on different brands of laptops that they worked for.
5. Yes, they perform different functions. IRST is mostly a monitoring tool with a few generic management options. The Samsung tool has many more functions available.

 

Ok.... I'm now looking for a 180/220/240W PSU, which seems the rarest tech-thing in the world
My Targus 150W is not enough and when I try to OC my 7970m to 900/1300 or more the screen goes black and system (+ sound) hangs under hi-usage! Current max stable OC (150W Targus) for me is 875/1275.

180W Targus Universal Adapter (I prefer EU adapter, not UK or US) is out of stock everywhere and the only 180W I can find is for HP laptops with a custom oval plug...

Suggested shops?

Hi .I have one computer gx660r. Last week I bought the OCZ Vertex 4128 gb.
But I have a problem like this .I learned that this is a problem in others. when I open ahci mode on my computer ssd not workind.
actuall no reads bios.
I have PM55 chipset. ı know ıt have sata 3. Is there anyone who knows a solution to this?. this is bios problem ?(or other if I update my BIOS , solved problem?

Hint; you need to flash appropriate unlocked BIOS to your laptop so you can select specific settings and make our vertex4 work in its full potential via your laptop capabilities.

hint #2, search my all messages in this thread I have moded and posted how and etc etc

Dude, i just read this post you managed to put in backlight keyboard in your gx660. Thats awesome man. Any pictures on how it looks? And if you dont mind, some step by step guide please. =D I bet there are lotta other people as excited as me for some backlight mod on their gx660.

dang, that is one dedication and knowledge you got there :thumbsup: but i think itll be tough to actually find some mentioned laptop owner that understand extensively as you do, heck, i bet itll be hard to find one who own and know how to use voltmeter multimeter.

How do I see if i have disabled my HT? Because i have disable it in bios and i can still see 4 ''core'' bars in the task manager. Why I want to disable it is because i have problem in bf3 while im overclocking my i5 460m. And i heard people had problem with HT on when they play BF3.

Ive installed the custom firmware on my GX660r to try out the overclocking options for the turbo button. Standard is 5% increase which works fine as you would expect. Putting it upto 6% I cant run a full benchmark test on 3dmark as it crashes out. If i put it above 10% then the computer just blue screens as soon as i press the turbo button :-(

Ive fitted some 1600mhz ram, and tried different speed settings, but i just cant seem to get it running stable about the standard 5% :-(

The 7970m clocks well though, and that is what makes the difference in games, so im not too sad about it.

Ive had a pair of MSI GX60 laptops in to setup for someone. they look very nice with the brushed aluminium wrist rest. These ones have the "Super Raid" SSD setup. makes for a very quick user experience. Only down-side is windows 8... sooo frustrating trying to figure out how to get around.

Anyway, this laptop comes with a 19v 9.5A (180w) PSU. It is a Delta ADP-180HB. should work great for those people updrading their gx660, or other MSI models
