The P65 will have models with the 1060 and 1070MQ as well. Finally a MSI thin and light with a bigger battery capacity.

I've got an order in with HIDevolution for a GS65, but I'm so tempted by this model. I'm loving the limited edition's white chassis.

As far as I can tell, the only difference I see in the specs are the RGB keyboard and the Killer wireless. If only they were available sooner...

Well let's be honest, the looks on this laptop are killer just imagine you're in a care, meeting airplane, etc you'd look like the boss with this thing. So sexy and elegant.

The GS65 is one of the best if not the best thin laptop out there though so it really depends, can you wait? If you can then place the pre-order to get it first but if you think you really need the laptop earlier, then stick to your original order

I am going to place a pre order for this from HID. I had narrowed down my choices to the GS65 and the RB15 and was leaning towards the RB15 because to me it looked more professional for meetings, airplanes and such. I was about to place the order for RB15 last night, when during my research I came across the P65 Creator. It's exactly what I wanted and it makes sense for me as the only thing that swayed me towards the RB15 was it looked slightly more professional.

Seems too expensive for what it is. Should be interesting to see how hot it gets and how much it thermal throttles with a 45W hexacore CPU in a chassis with dimensions ideally suited for a 15W CPU. Anyone seen photos of what the thing looks like on the inside yet?

Congrat man!! That's one sleek lookin' sexy laptop!

Since you're now part of the HIDevolution Gaming Team, feel free to tag me once you get it if you want me to help you tweak it. These are the Phoenix Tweaks:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Disabling Microsoft Edge from starting up automatically in the background upon reboot.
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.
10- Updating all drivers to the latest versions in case they weren't up to date.
11- Disabling the performance hit that is caused by the Meltdown and Spectre patches recently released by Microsoft (optional, only if you don't mind having this security vulnerability and would rather have your CPU's full performance back)
12- Overprovisioning your SSD anywhere between 10-20% depending on how much space you can spare to ensure optimal and consistent performance at all times.
13- Blocking the Google Chrome Software Reporter Tool (which causes a high system load when it is scanning files)
14- Preventing Microsoft Edge from running on startup in the background
15- Creating a system restoration image using Macrium Reflect

Can you elaborate on why the GS65 over the P65?
I was looking at the GS before the P was announced..

I mean, they are similar that I can tell - and what I read seems like it's on the same chassis, basically

Biggest "differences" and similarities I see are:
    1) White color (or Silver) vs the traditional Black / gold outline
    2) 1050ti, 1060maxq or 1070maxq versus 1060/1070
    3) Same 'possible' ports, battery, dimensions, weight, webcam,
    4) Regular network card vs 'killer'
    5) Same screen and same HD capabilities

If I'm missing something else please let me know; even though it's 'newest', I hate to say it but I"m one of those suckers for that 'white' color - which has really has got me!

You are not missing anything, it is basically what you said an GS65 in white, with a few small changes like Intel network card vs killer. Which I don't mind as Intel cards work better in Linux anyways which is where I'll be booted to most of the time. The other change I see is, at least on the white edition, is that the ram defaults to DDR4-2666 which is a plus. The kicker is that the GS65 is $100 more for a similar equipped machine, $2499 vs $2399 and that's with DDR4-2400 going by HID prices. The white got me as well. So color, RAM, wireless chipset and price were all driving factors for me.

Yes, forgot about the RAM 2666 versus 2400 default.
I've started pricing a white gs65 myself and I have to say that I'm very interested - this is more so probably for my "next year to be" college student/engineer, but it seems to check off everything that he would ever need (plus it can game!).. mostly debating between this and a macbook pro vs a surface book 2 (? 3 if it ever gets updated) vs a top of the line xps15 for him... Never had an MSI so trying to familiarize myself and learn more, but it seems to really check off all the things one could ever need. (for reference, my desktop, i have a dell xps, and laptop wise, i have a hp spectre x360 myself.. so that's where I"m coming from)

Just saw your tagline.. thought about 32gb but left it at 16gb. Was also going to use a 970 evo 500gb as a boot.. going back and forth about adding a storage drive

After days of staring at photos of the P65 and the GS65, I decided to stick with my original order for the GS. The P65 is beautiful, but I've already been waiting about a month and am getting impatient. That was the main factor for my decision, but I do wish MSI would've carried the gold accents throughout (around the screen edge and trackpad specifically) instead of the silver on the P65. Small detail, I know, but it was something that bugged me a bit.

Since my GS has been on backorder, HIDevolution just recently updated my order. It looks like MSI has updated the RAM to 2666MHz by default in case anyone else is debating between these two models.

Nothing wrong with that choice, and it's great that they are defaulting to 2666MHz now. The amazon listing says the P65 will be released on September 21st, so I hope I won't be waiting to much longer, I currently have a work laptop and a desktop so I can afford to wait. My hopes is the P65 can replace both my work laptop and desktop (having stability issues and broadwell 2011-v3 replacement boards are expensive) in the long run. Plan on building a new desktop in 2020 when AMD Zen2+ platform is released so the laptop will be my main until then, it'll allow me to downsize so I can spend time building my new house.

Thinking hard about the P65 (white) vs. the GS65 (black). Will be using mainly for video editing with some light gaming thrown in. I know from a gaming perspective connectivity isn't the driving factor, but for me I'm loving the fact that these laptops have both a full-lane TB3 port as well as independent USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 ports. I mostly edit off of portable SSDs these days and the bandwidth improvement of USB-C over old-school USB 3.0 is noticeable.

I don't have a hard preference on color, but I am wondering about the white - for normal usage (assuming hands that are reasonably clean) is anybody worried that the laptop will be a grime magnet?

I'm not worried, I don't think it'll be any worse then silver i.e. macbook pro, I had one for 3 years and it collected dirt/dust/grime regularly because I like to work coffee shop, outside and "insert place here" when I can. It is made out of aluminum which will make it easier to clean and the white would show less finger prints then the black, and look more professional then the black with gold outline.

Yeah, that's how I work, too. When not at my desk (with big, calibrated monitors) I like to hang out in coffee shops or other places where there are people. Agree that the white looks a bit more muted than the black/gold (although I do like both). Thanks for the reply - almost certain I'm going P65/white.

When I'm ready to finally pull the trigger then HID for sure. Already spoke with Donald and will do the full thermal solution. I think this will go a long way to helping get the most out of the machine, especially with long renders which can just be brutal on the hardware.

Amazon listing release date has slipped from September 21st to October 10th. Hidevolution has not had any updates from MSI about this one. This is getting to be a tough wait.

Awesome! Did you get any extras/upgrades? What were your releases for getting the P65 over the GS65?

It's criminal that only the white limited edition has Thunderbolt 3. That one with the 1050Ti would be super attractive if it had TB3..

Anyone know what the main difference is from the MSI GS65 and the MSI P65 other then one is white and one is black. I see different LAN cards / and Wifi, but anything major? Seems identical. :)

    Nice, raid 0 or 1?

These pictures just confirm that I made the correct decisions, beautiful laptop.

I agree, that is what swung me to the white, if they would have offered a silver edition with the same specs as the white one it would have been a tough choice.

I took a look into this a few post ago, it's not many unless you include that the silver can come with a 1050ti as well.

As DemonBob noted in the post earlier up, not too much different when I looked into it..
One other difference (other than the 9560/killer, and color scheme) that was also pointed out to me different is the p65 is a white backlit keyboard vs the gs65 is a per-key RGB... if that makes a difference to you.

I will probably pull the trigger on one but I probably wait on a few things :)
    1) I want to hear about someone else's first - I know it's a gs65 chassis basically, but want to make sure the quality control is intact
    2) Gonna make sure microsoft's oct 2 event isn't something I want (i.e if they consider for example a surface book 2 upgrade)

Is the silver version chassis made from plastic as well? Same material as gs65 but looks like aluminum?

The GS65 is made out aluminum, except for the hinge part.

Went with RAID 0 Config. Thanks I looked up the differences. I'm excited for it. Switching from an old Macbook Pro, apple underwhelmed me with their 2018 refresh and the lack of normal ports is frustrating. Excited to make the switch!

Talked to Donald earlier today, looks like MSI pushed back the release of the model i'm getting to 10/28. I'll be on vacation at that time, so I'm debating my options of getting something else vs waiting.

After careful consideration and reflection the last couple of days, I am going to go a head and wait. I still have a functioning gaming desktop and work laptop. Someone will be house sitting for me while i'm gone in case it comes in while i'm on vacation, although I am hoping the date changes to sooner, it's not a major deal breaker.

This is always a good idea.
If you don't absolutely -need- a new system, but just WANT a new system, can you still be happy and enjoy life and enjoy your games by waiting?
Now if you're a gamer and your system is so old that you can't get more than 30 FPS at low detail settings, then yes, you need a new system. But if you already had a 7820HK and a GTX 1080 but you want the new i9 and RTX MXM laptop cards because you want to feel on top of the game and feel like a God with the latest hardware, well...no comment on that....
