Another question I have, I have 24GB and how is it configured? 3x8GB?

That seems to be the case, just wanted to confirm.

Use CPUZ to check and it will tell you the # of sticks, and specs, etc.

What is the difference between GT80 SLI 6QD and 6QE?

They have the same processor but the GPU is 970m versus 980m, any other differences?

The model that gave the full desktop GPU is the 6QF, the one that followed 6QE (which is what I have). And that's was the last incarnation of the GT80 line.

how were they able to stick that full desktop GPU into the laptop, and 2 of them?

Here is S version , which i mentioned earlier that it's the Special Edition.

    https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT80S-6QF-TITAN-SLI-29TH-ANNIVERSARY-EDITION/Specification

    I guess there was a S version , but of a mobile GTX 980M.

I had the S version of the full GTX 980

Does your box have the word anniversary present? Reason that I am asking because the link is for the global item which wasn't available in the US. :)

I actually don't remember. I got it back in March.Maybe it's the same one you have in your signature. The only difference is that it was a refurbished unit , and were only sold as barebone.

Keep it running for years to come. Systems at this size is rare but powerful, definitely can use another refresh.

guys, I need to change the LCD, does anyone know how to do it easily? Would it be enough to remove front bezel, remove screws, take out the LCD, remove flex cable from its back and simply install the new LCD? Or would it require extensive disassembly of the chassis etc?

New to this site....but I have a MSI GT80 2QE Titan w/ 980m in SLI. My question is will my laptop support the (2) 980 desktop in Sli? or it's got to be the newer version of the Titan? Are there extra power for 4-pins for the desktop MXM's? This would save me a lot of time and research if someone knows....thanks

OK guys, I completed my LCD replacement, it is a fairly straightforward process, you start removing the front bezel from one of the lower corners and work your way around. When you remove the screws (should be 8-10 of them) you fold down the LCD like you were closing the lid. Then you see the adhesive on the connector, be very careful as it is a rather strong tape and pulling too hard can damage the connector. Some people advise to cut the tape instead of peeling it off in this step. Then you slide out the connector (not upwards but along the plane of the LCD), then put in new LCD, install the connector and do everything backwards, don't forget to put new tape on the connector. Well, this is it. The model number of the LCD is LTM184HL01-M01. The last M01 part tells you it is a matte screen, I bought the C01 version which is glossy and I like it better, more vibrant colors. You might see more reflections if you work outdoors etc though.

I am also wondering if it would be possible to upgrade our screens to 4k, I could only locate one model with 18.4" size and UHD resolution, NV184QUM-N21. However the datasheet tells me the pinout is different sadly. Just let me know if you have more information on this matter.

    Cheers.

has anyone tried putting Windows 11 on one of these? I guess lack of TPM and model of CPU is not compatible and custom installer needed? What about drivers?
