You need to make a custom resolution, and then choose the HZ there. Once you do this, the new custom resolution will appear as an option like the picture you showed.

When you have the Nvidea control panel open. Under display chose change resolution. There is a customize button on that page.

I would like to ask a question regarding the MSI GT80S 6QF Titan.

What are the differences between the "Heroes Special Edition" and the "29th Anniversary Edition"?

I cannot tell any specification differences at all. They are both identical. Is this correct?

The obvious difference is just the theme: illustrated versus plain.

    Am I missing anything here?

They are the same system basically, just different in appearance for the most part. We don't carry the Heroes edition, so I'm not sure the amount of ram or SSD size that are in the Heroes version though, but should be able to upgrade to the same amounts I would imagine.

Heroes special edition also includes this:

"Three game code coupons would be included, which are Gazlowe + Big top Skin, Diablo + Kaijo skin + Valla"

If you click on a resolution that your screen is not at it will inactive the button. That was the only way I got it to become inactive. When you start on it make sure you are at max resolution apply it and then see if it available if not close the control panel reopen and check again.

FYI - last I heard you could only get the Heroes Editions in the Asia Pacific Region and Europe. I haven't seen it for sale in the US.

Asus just announced the water-cooled 660w powered, 980 desktop mobile SLI laptop, the GX800VG!!

ASUS unveils the ROG GX800 laptop with two NVIDIA GPUs for maximum performance
    http://www.windowscentral.com/asus-unveils-rog-gx800-laptop-two-nvidia-gpus-maximum-performance

It was teased before Computex, without revealing the GPU's or name, as the GXXX:

THE FUTURE OF ULTIMATE GAMING LAPTOPS - A GLIMPSE
    http://rog.asus.com/23312016/coming-...s---a-glimpse/

At first I thought it was going to be a single GPU Pascal Mobile:

New GXXX with Desktop Mobile Pascal!!
    http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?85323-New-GXXX-with-Desktop-Mobile-Pascal!!

And, then I found these scores, which were very close to the Asus teased scores for the GXXX, check out the OC'd score, 38595 Graphics Score :)

MSI announced, which will show at Computex 2016. Among the novelties presented will be used for players laptops GT73 Titan SLI and GT83 Titan SLI.

GT73 Titan SLI has two graphics cards GeForce GTX 980m (SLI), while the model GT83 Titan SLI is equipped with even more powerful graphics solution, the GeForce GTX 980 (SLI). The former can also get a card GTX 980m.

If MSI are putting out another round of Maxwell GPU'd flagship models in August, it's pretty unlikely Mobile Pascal is going to happen before next year.

I don't get it. MSI just made it harder to get a Mechanical Keyboard.... Might as well grab a 5700HQ Model for $3600 CDN.

We haven't seen a definitive specifications list for the GT73, it might have low profile mechanical switches - with RGB, or MSI might have moved to the standard SteelSeries keyboard.

We don't know how much smaller the GT73 will be than the GT83/(GT80S). the GT73 still looks pretty thick, maybe they were able to fit deeper throw keys.

My main interest is if MSI upgraded the power for the GT83 to unleash full potential of the 980 SLI.

The new Asus GX800VG has an 18" 4k screen!!, look how thin and svelte that laptop is, man that's a sleek SLI laptop.

    Hydro Overclocking System, 660w, 18" 4k, SLI 980, 5.7kg, thin profile, what's not to love? :)

The only thing I am not so fond of is the lack of upgradeability of the Asus machines. The GX800 will be much more interesting with pascal, instead of maxwell.

ASUS warranty is easier to deal with in my area as well. Hmm.... looks interesting. The king is back ;).

And with news of no 1080M and no 1070M but rather desktop versions in notebooks is also exciting.

GT83 confirmed to have 3 fans!! 1 each for both 980 GPU's in SLI and 1 for the CPU. We have been wanting a 3rd fan for the CPU for a long time.

Nothing about the size of PSU feeding the GT83 yet...

No mention of cooling fans / PSU size for the GT73, but 120hz 5ms IPS screen confirmed.

The question is did they fix the power draw issue also. If not they are just drawing more power with another fan (warranted another fan is always a plus).

It will be fun to see what CPU both laptops have. And if the GT73 gets 3 fans too.

The power draw of the 3rd fan should be small, reducing the heat will improve power utilization to some extent.

After the show MSI will put up product pages for the GT83 and GT73 so we can see some specifications.

That's good news, maybe the pascal models are on the way.

Someone suggested the GT83/GT73 might ship with Pascal rather than the shown 980/980m SLI at Computex, that would be awesome if they sold at the Computex announced pricing.

It looks like NCIX dropped the price from $4699 to $4349 ($350 discount), with the $200 rebate that is $4149...
    http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-gt80-titan-sli-i7-cf-118215.htm

Given what we know about Pascal laptop shipping time frame, which is nothing, it's hard to commit to that big of a purchase without knowing you'd have 3-6 months before Pascal came out, shorter than that you might as well wait.

The "reporters" don't really follow a methodical path for data gathering, and seem to be at the mercy of what the vendor is feeding them at the time of the presentation. It's all we have to go on. :)

I have seen other videos where the 120hz IPS is mentioned, but this one is the first that said the 120 hz IPS display has a 5ms response time.

The GT73 with the 17" display is the one with the 120hz IPS panel, in this video covered just after 4:05... the GT83 coverage starts at 3:40 :

MSI booth @ Computex 2016! GT83/GT72 coverage Starts at 3:40

I don't think MSI would put a TN panel in a top end SLI laptop...

I mean, 144 hz IPS panels on monitors are pretty expensive right now, wouldn't be a surprise if it was actually TN. A friend of mine at Computex did mention that that most of the high refresh rate panels he saw were ok'ish.

Apparently my Power DVD got corrupted and now will not play any Blu Ray discs. Power DVD says I have to uninstall and reinstall it to fix. But MSI says the only way to do that is to Re-image the OS. Thus losing everything. Any one have another solution?

Does it have some sort of license you can write down and then download the installer from the Power DVD website? In general I never use the included software because personally it has been useless in every single machine I have used before hahaha, and I actually have a license for the Pro/ultimate software which is what I end up installing.

I don't even remember if the laptop came with any disks that might have the software?

No Disk came with the notebook for it that I can remember either.
I have the licence number but Cyberpower says MSI is the only one that can give me the software. It is a catch 22 imo they give you the software that is 4 generations old to make you but the newest. Or wipe your hard drive :/

What version do you have installed?

Did you already update PowerDVD? There are updates for each version at Cyberlink - they work on any install of that version, scroll down to find the section with your revision number, and download the latest patch. That may replace / fix enough of the install to get it working again :)

Updating it from the site is what Cyberpower said caused the problem. Here is what they told me

"We found that the PowerDVD12 customer owned is a MSI hardware-bundled (OEM) version, which has an exclusive update channel and cannot apply the retail version patch downloaded from CyberLink Software Update page.

Please uninstall PowerDVD12, after Windows reboot, install PowerDVD12 with original hardware-bundled version provided by PC vendor (MSI), and install update from PowerDVD auto-update notification inside the program directly."

That is why I was trying uninstall and reinstall. But the problem That I had started before I even updated so I do not know :(

The PowerDVD version shipped with the GT80 sent me to that page for updates, and they worked for me several times.

This looks like a new universal jerk move by Cyberlink, as even the PowerDVD 10 updates say this now:

" Note: This update is only for the retail and online purchased versions of PowerDVD 9 Ultra, PowerDVD 10 Ultra, PowerDVD 11 Ultra, and PowerDVD 12 Ultra. It will update them to PowerDVD 12 build 5612."

I always buy a new copy of PowerDVD as the bundled versions are a number of version old, your version 12 is from 2012, the version 10 from 2010, both very old - but still functional.

Those patches are needed for functionality with newer releases of DVD'd / BD's, so Cyberlink has screwed everyone over that got bundled versions.

Sorry, I didn't know they had done this.

My current version is 15, and it is the version I bought from Cyberlink, so it's still updateable.

I wouldn't buy an upgrade from them, as you need the original installed to get the upgrade to overlay.

Buy a *new* version like you are a new customer, fresh and complete with 1 install. Then that will be upgradeable moving forward.

It sucks that they did this, but their license payment from MSI came many years ago, and staying in business costs $, so I understand why they did it.

This is a good free BD player, but for DVD's I prefer MPC-HC, here are both links:

That's borderline criminal, what Cyberlink did.

They ruined your install, which they know you can't restore without a complete restore.

Their installers have in the past for me said "not a valid product to upgrade" kind of error if I downloaded the wrong version upgrade, so they could have easily checked the installed version before ruining it.

That's mean, deceptive, and downright actionable.

They should pull all those updates and redo them so they don't install except on valid upgradeable versions.

Complain to the BBB in your state and theirs, maybe to the credit card company that you bought your laptop on, and see how far you can push this to get it resolved.

Also complain to / through MSI that Cyberlink has updates that destroy the licensed install of the bundled PowerDVD. Tell MSI they need to get Cyberlink to pull those destructive updates, and replace them with universal updates that work on all PowerDVD installs of that version, or fix the detection in the update to not install on bundle installs not able to be upgraded.

I guess you spend $5000 on a laptop and can't even get support from the manufacture on the issue either. There solution is lose everything on your PC and reinstall Windows. This is my first MSI and the way it is looking it will be my last. With the power draw issue that is not being addressed and now this.

    It's not MSI's fault, it's Cyberlink's fault.

Cyberlink shipped the destructive upgrade. And, likely as not Cyberlink limit's MSI to only provide PowerDVD with the OS image, and not as an individual PowerDVD installer.
