That can't be right because MSI only sells the 16l1 with gpu included. The new barebones model is technically a 16l2. There's a 1060 and 1070 SKU for the new barebones. Eurocom likely has to take delivery of the barebones kit first and then assemble the rest and put their ridiculous Eurocom print on the lid and LCD bezel then it gets shipped to us. I'm going to figure out how to remove the Eurocom lettering off the laptop one way or another.

I think you can also check an option for them to send you a "box of parts" that you will assemble, could save you time :D

Forget going with a RAID0 950 Pro config. The system doesn't support RAID0 NVMe SSDs. Only conventional SATA/AHCI protocols can be used in RAID :(
I would go with a single 960 Pro once available. It's plenty fast for most scenarios.

Keep us updated on the fan noise and CPU/GPU temps. I'm curious :)

    Hi Guys!
I have now joined the GT62 owners club aswell. I have bought the GT 62VR Dominator Pro with 1070 and 6700HQ in it.
My first overall impressions are very positive:
-Great keyboard (typing feel is very good, only the layout is a little bit awkward [not the standard german layout]
    -Built Quality is very good
-Screen (coming from GE40) has great colours and brightness
-Speakers offer a clear sound (decent for gaming and music aswell - on my ge40 I have always used my headset)
-Noise (very important point for me) - so far I have only tested Guildwars 2 (Fallout 4 currently being downloaded) and the fans are audible (but not loud) and luckily, they are not high pitched or so. Also the fans only ramp up slowly. Having these massive heatpipes and large fans really pays off. How are you undervolting your I7 6700HQ? Are you using Intel XTU or a different tool?
So until now I am very happy with the GT62VR!

What are peoples thoughts on t he GS63VR? I am interested in getting a new laptop and was only really concerned about the portability of it and rushed into an X1 Yoga with OLED screen not very concerned about gaming. Now that I am looking around at more laptops I am seeing that there's more options than there used to be for very thin and fairly light laptops that can be carried around all the time and the GS63VR looks like one of the thinnest/lightest I can find and still provides a GTX1060 in it. I'm thinking getting something like this would allow me to sell or get rid of my bigger clunky heavy Alienware completely and just carry this around all the time. Wondering if I should consider returning/selling the lenovo I just purchased when it gets here.

Read the entire thread.. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. GS63 is super loud .. otherwise it's a good laptop. Runs quite a bit hotter than GT62

I'm just relaying information, I don't have the full picture. It's possible that Eurocom does not buy directly from MSI, but goes through a third-party, but that's just speculation.

You can request a "no logo" edition if you don't want the lettering (if you happen to order from them in the future).

There was no "No logo" option for the unit and I even emailed them and they told me there also no option to remove it which sounds crazy. Yet I still put in the order notes to not put their logo on it.

    Really? That is just bizarre...

As an owner of the Eurocom M5 Pro, the logo isn't too distracting and eventually grows on you, but it would definitely look a lot sleeker without it. Please let me know also if you find a way to remove it :D

Also check the RAID option on the config page and read what it says.

Well I guess this can be good news and I can just buy two normal m2 Sata and raid them together instead to get close to 1100mb/sec reads.

Will PCI spec m2 work or only SATA for raid0? Your picture you linked isn't working on my phone..

I think Eurocoms listing for nvme not being raidable is incorrect .. as the Z170 chipset is what brought raiding with NVme to be a thing.. it was previous chipsets that didn't support it.

I looked into removing laser printed logos from devices and apparently a lot of people have to same desires as us.

The first method for Metal surfaces is using a Sugar Cube.. Apparently it's like a using sandpaper but less abrasive and should take the print off metal surfaces without scratching the metal.

The second method is for plastic surfaces and you need to find a "Ink Wash" product and it will remove the silk screening stuff off plastics.. However people say rubbing too hard will mess up the plastics.. And the chemical is very hazardous so you need to use gloves and respiration to be 100% safe with it.

For safer methods, a product called "Goof Off" seems to work well for plastics without seemingly discoloring the plastics.

I'm still looking for other options.. It seems nail polish remover IS NOT advised as it will discolor the plastics.. Although some people use nail polish remover on certain colored plastics like white and it doesn't seem to be noticeable.. But on black plastics I don't think we should go this route.

I personally have used Brake Fluid for cars to remove logos in the past from plastics and it worked well and even polished the surface to make it shiny... But since the front LCD bezel where the Eurocom logo will be is matte black I don't think this would be a good idea either. You can use Brake Fluid on oxidized car headlights to basically renew them to new again.. That's a secret tip you can use next time someone wants to renew their headlights :p Don't mess around with those kits they sell with sandpaper and gritty polishes..

More than chipset I think it's a BIOS limitation. I don't know the exact reason why though.. o_O

Wow!!, $63 to go into the BIOS and build a RAID volume, what a rip-off!!!

That is literally the first time I have seen a charge for RAID'ing 2 drives you are *buying* from a vendor; every other configuration sheet I have seen has $0 as the charge.

Awesome - I went ahead and emailed them making sure it's a no logo version then.. since there wasn't a drop down to select NO LOGO I put in the comments when I ordered "Please make sure it's a no logo".. but earlier e-mails from Eurocom told me there was NOT a No Logo version.. I don't know how or why their communications are this confused. They also told me at first the keyboard was a solid white back lit :/

I wonder if there's some confusion between their F5 Tornado and Sky X4E2 laptops, as those two systems have somewhat similar offerings.

I have been playing Witcher 3 now for around 30minutes.
Temperatures maxed out at 84*C (CPU) and 82*C (GPU) [room temperature was 22*C] (no max fan mode of course)
Seems like my temperature are a little bit higher than yours, but considering the enormous power its fine.

Those temps are fine considering Witcher 3 is a demanding game. I would get similar temps on my previous GT60 with a 980m and a 4700mq :)
Considering that the 1070 and 6700hq are a more powerful combo

    DO NOT USE GOOF OFF!
While it's generally fine, it does take off some surface material that leaves a permanent smudge, I tried it on many surfaces and it does work but on material that has any sort of shine it gets rubbed off a bit.
On a more matte finish it leaves a oily residue that's very hard to get completely off.
I do hope Eurocom has a no logo option because that would be the best option, nothing against them but it does look a bit tacky.

Been a bit under the weather lately so that's why I've been missing but good to go now.
Still debating if I should get the K version of the i7 6700, you guys can't get you laptops fast enough ;)
Lastly which wireless cards are generally better intel or killer?
    I've read conflicting reports.

If I had to choose between Killer and Intel wireless card I would go for the intel. If they cost the same, the killer card may be a choice, but if the intel card is cheaper I would definitely go for the intel - My killer wireless Card is working well so far, but I have heard about people having driver problems with their Killer Cards. So if you can save money, choose Intel.

Not so much the money just reliable performance, I've had a Killer card in the past and it was good but like you stated I've also heard people having problems with the current series Killer cards.
Probably will go with Intel .

I got an updated email this morning after I inquired over the weekend about my laptop's status. The latest is they are expecting shipping to begin tomorrow. He didn't exactly specify if my order was going to ship tomorrow or if they are beginning shipment on backorders tomorrow. I emailed back to clarify and also to let him know I'd rather not delay shipment for the "no logo" if my unit was ready to go.

Same. It seems they are fairly quick to respond to emails but I have this bad feeling I won't be seeing my laptop anytime this week. If it doesn't ship by Wednesday it's a no go for sure.

Well he emailed me back after a follow up question and was told that if no logo chassis arrive they can honor my request and it will be a no logo build. If not it will have the logo. I was also told I may or may not be in tomorrow shipments depending on my queue position but it will ship within 2-3 days regardless. My guess is they got enough in to fulfill all current orders but need to build and test each unit. If it ships in that time frame I may see it by Friday or Monday. Works for me.

It's surprising if a lot of people are ordering the "Tornado F5" from Eurocom if they really have that many pre-orders on it but haven't come on here to talk about it.. Usually if you're the kind of person to order a barebones, you'd have done your due diligence on forums before you made the decision.. So to know people are blindly ordering laptops in an upwards of 2000 dollars is shocking.

Guess it depends where it ships from.. But I don't expect my unit until late next week at this rate.

Well TBH watching all this crap with the GT72/GT80 upgrade MXM, I really have lost some faith in MSI. While this barebones is an MSI chassis and machine, its supported by Eurocom and I have a feeling we will get much better support with them. I've dealt with MSI support in the past and simply put they're just bad. I've been hung up on, and lied to. I still like their machines and usually never needed any support but when you need it, it won't be there like you think.

I am hoping and already seeing a different story with Eurocom. Emails are answered quickly and they seem to know what they're talking about. Also they've already been supporting MXM upgrades for their existing 900M laptops. This is good news for us about possible Kaby Lake and Volta upgrades in the future.

Well Eurocom can only do so much to "fix" any issues we have though.. They are only a reseller.. If we need a BIOS/EC update to fix annoying problems.. MSI has to deliver on that. Which is my only worries is that our BIOSes are crap.. But i'm hoping it's solid. Technically since it's a Z170 motherboard, it shouldn't be far off from whatever other Z170 motherboards MSI sells. Not sure though, as i've never seen a desktop setup inside a laptop before. This will be a first for me.

And Eurocom won't offer MXM upgrades if MSI says no to them. For example, you can't upgrade the 980M version of the 16L1 because MSI says no and "something something" about power requirements "mumble mumble" .. I don't really believe them since the power requirements are essentially similar. But yeah, MSI screwed over the pre-Pascal buyers with no ability to upgrade.. What's the point in MXM if MSI won't allow for upgrades.

Hey guys like diversion and talon wondering why you guys seem to be buying new laptops after you had your Dominators? Did they go wrong or something? I'm looking at picking up the 1070 Dominator GT62VR as it's the laptop which seems to have a good balance of being quiet, cool and very powerful whilst also looking pretty good.

As far as i can tell issues might be the space bar (not huge for me as i will be using a mech keyboard anyway and that' about it?

So can you guys recommend buying this beast? Will be buying from Bandhphoto as they can ship to Japan for 50 dollars, compared to 300 dollars from the rest of the US based companies. I'm from the UK but living in Japan.

Anyone who is using this and can give feedback that would be awesome, ty!

100% would recommend the GT62VR.. It's the quietest, coldest running 15" i've ever seen with a "big boy" graphics card. Only reason i'm going for the barebones is because I just want a desktop class K series CPU (since so far the USA has not gotten the GT62VR with 6820HK option). And a close friend of mine is buying the GT62 so I figured why not.

Talon had a GT62 with GTX 1060 so I believe he just wanted the 1070 version and went for the barebones version.

The barebones is a bit cheaper as it's more customizable.. go to www.Eurocom.com and see for yourself.. You can configure a 1070 + i7-6700 in the high 1500s out the door if you have your own drives and plan to add more memory later.

That's great info, thanks my man. Despite browsing through the majority of the thread i wanted to confirm that it wasn't due to error or anything like that as to why you were both getting new laptops. I have heard the k CPU could be good, however for what i'm doing in the foreseeable future is 1080p 60 FPS (apart from games like overwatch where the more FPS the better because of input lag) so i think a 1070 and that CPU will see me good for many years to come.

I just have to wait for bandhphoto to get one in stock now, which isn't a huge deal as i'm waiting on a paycheck anyway until i can afford it. The reason i will go with them is because they charge a measly 50 dollars to ship to Japan, compared to 200-300 for other places.

In what can be a very confusing field i'm glad to have 98% settled on a system, going to be very sexy not having to run overwatch at 50% render scale (480p) just to get enough FPS to not have input lag, also very much looking forward to being able to replay witcher, this time on decent graphics settings.

Thanks for the info mate very helpful! I'll check the barbones but i fear they will charge alot for postage which nerfs my budget heavily

Im using the GT 62VR since Saturday, and its just great.
Nice Display, great keyboard, good cooling system (stays pretty quiet and keeps temperatures even below 85*C).
Before I bought the GT 62VR I was thinking about getting the GT 72VR or GT 73VR but I´m glad I went with the GT 62VR.
Only negative points in my opinion are the different keyboard layout (not standard german layout), only having 1 m.2 and 1 2,5" drive and the fact that there is only 1 USB port on the left side (3xUSB 3 on the right, but if you are using a mouse on the right side of the laptop, and you need more than 1 USB port, you may have to manage the cables) - so no "heavy" reasons not to buy this laptop.
The cooling is audible, but I was playing Witcher 3 without headphones and without sound and the noise of the fans didnt bother me at all. (normally I am pretty sensitive when it comes to fan noise - especially high pitched fans are a no go for me)
Really a great machine that MSI has put on the market and I would recommend it anytime.

The barebones model doesn't even have a USB on the left.. only 3 on the right lol. I'm going to plug in a USB hub to the Type C port in the rear to keep dongles out of the way.

I noticed that last week and hats exactly what Indecided I would do. Get a nice hub and since it's faster data rates it shouldn't cause any bottleneck with more than one device hooked up.

Well didn't receive any shipment emails or emails at all today regarding my order. I had been told last week it would ship Monday or Tuesday and obviously that wasn't met. I really hope it goes out tomorrow since that will give it a shot at being there by go home days. I have a feeling it won't. I'm slightly annoyed with no idea how long we're going to wait/if we're being told the truth on shipment estimates.

Anyone hear anything today regarding their order from Eurocom?

Based on my place in the queue, I was promised my system would arrive some time this week... They did not say when it would ship, however. They could still theoretically meet their delivery date if they ship on Wednesday and choose a fast shipping carrier (I believe their USA branch is based in New York?)

Out of curiosity, when did you place your order?

Thursday or Friday for mine but I seriously doubt that too.. These builds are so slow I would have rather been sent all the parts and did it myself :/ Plus MSI probably only makes a limited amount at a time due to known limited sales for them.. The best part about it is that you'll have a very unknown custom laptop.. Probably a longer wait than a Sager/Clevo but knowing you'll be one of few with a MSI barebones it will make for good resell, especially if they perform well and keep thermals under control.

I'm really nervous and excited to play with these units.
