It appears it's using a 90w variant. Some on Linus' scores match my overclocked 90w 2080 Max-Q setup. We'll have to peek into the Asus owners club to verify though.

I was in BestBuy today and they had a GS75 unit on display.
Impressions:
-It’s a very beautiful laptop. It looks large but doesn’t feel large. Screen is gorgeous, body feels premium, only thing I don’t like is that the hinges are colored. It feels fairly solid, more than a 2018 GS65 but less than the 2019.
-Keyboard keys have a longer stroke than the GS65. I’d say it’s more similar in feel to a clicky membrane keyboard compared to a clicky chiclet keyboard like the GS65. Also, there is some flex but you have to look for it (Linus pressing down kind-of-looking)
-If you rest your wrists on the laptop while typing (instead of hovering), you will click on the touchpad. My wrists were at a 45 degree angle as I typed so only the “blade” of my hand was resting but I still clicked on the touchpad. In this case, a smaller touchpad would have been better IMO.
I couldn’t game on it because well, display model lol.
Im excited to hear everyone else’s impressions and see a review!

alright guys, i'm a bit new to these forums, but i have been lurking this thread in particular. i decided to pull the trigger on the gs75 with rtx 2070, despite the lack of information on it. i have done some quick benchmarks, and some undervolting to get an idea of how well it performs.
firstly, for all performance tests, i used msi's cooler boost that spins the fans at ~6000rpm. ambient temperature is 20~21°C. i have not yet opened up the gs75 as i am still a bit unsatisfied by its performance, as well as the crinkly sound that is audible whenever you pick up the device. As I do not plan on taking apart the machine...yet, it should be noted that all tests were done with stock paste and clocks were not touched.
3DMark Firestrike:
CPU max values during bench:
GPU max values during bench:
Cinebench R15 result:
Display Contrast, Gamut, Brightness Distribution:
To summarize, brightness, contrast and coverage are 370 nits, 1386:1, 97.6% sRGB, and 68.9% adobeRGB respectively. Display panel ID is N173HCE-G33 (CMN175C). Its made by Innolux. All tests were done at 50% brightness in windows, which equates to approx 250 nits)
CPU benchmarks fine but NEEDS to be undervolted as PL1 limits the CPU to 45W midway through said benchmark. if you aren't running fans at max speed, without an undervolt, cpu will hit 97°C. My voltage offset on the CPU is -0.141V. Once PL1 limit kicks in, CPU downclocks to 3.5GHz with that undervolt.
GPU can do SO much more, its honestly dissapointing. I was hoping to get mid 17000s as a FireStrike graphics score, but the result i have gotten honestly makes me want to say, it's not even worth getting the 2070 max q model. you are better off saving a few hundred dollars and getting the rtx 2060, as you can get performance very close to the 2070 in this laptop. GPU is locked at 80W, it will occasionally pulse to 90W, but not often. I really do not know why my results are so low. if someone can enlighten me on why my graphics performance is so low, please do so. I have not tried overclocking GPU yet. However, look at the temp on the 2070 with coolerboost activated!!! 61°C!
Something that worries me performance wise is real world performance. While playing Destiny 2, my desktop computer, with a GTX 980 and i7 4790k, averages me 85fps @2560x1440. At the same settings, but at 1920x1080, im getting 75fps on average. What gives? is it the single channel memory (16GB model only comes with one stick)? Is it the slightly higher clock speed? it doesn't end there. with the older razer blade 15 (gtx 1070), i was able to average 110 fps at the same settings. For some reference, the GS75 CPU temps reach a max of 78°C and the GPU reaches a max of 69°C, over a period of 4hrs of Destiny 2. I used a custom fan profile for when i was playing Destiny 2, but i honestly could've just gone with the default fan profile. Average fan speed was between 4800rpm and 5000rpm. Ambient temp when playing Destiny 2 was 24°C.
Ok, other things that bother me. I knew the fans were going to be loud, but the GS75 (the one i have at least) makes a very annoying whistling noise that makes it sound much louder than other thin and light notebooks. It makes the razer blade 15 with fans at max seem quiet. Also, picking up the laptop makes a crinkly noise, as the chassis of the laptop is stressed. One more thing, WiFi seems unreliable. It drops connection for a short while every now and then.
Enough negative, here is the good. The display, if you are ok with the low pixel density of it, is very good. Its bright, and while it may not cover AdobeRGB very well, colours appear to pop, as contrast ratio is very good. Ghosting is also minimal. The keyboard has plentyful amounts of travel and feels really nice to type on. Measured with some calipers, travel distance is approx 1.85mm. This IMO is one of the best keyboards i have used on a slim gaming laptop. The laptop itself feels solid, much more so than the first GS65's that came out. That said, it does not feel like the most rigid laptop. Heres the thing, after the device flexes a little bit, trying to flex it more becomes MUCH harder. it is not a linear deformation curve. It is still more flexible than the base of the aero 15, blade 15 and zephyrus line. The display is about as rigid as the ones on the aero 15. Trackpad is really nice to use, but i feel like it is way too wide. I don't know why they made it so wide, i use max 60% of the width at a time, with most of the space to the right going unused. MicroSD Card reader is fairly fast. With a Sandisk Extreme 256GB MicroSD card (the newer ones with A2 rating) im getting roughly 90MB/s sequential read and write, in crystaldiskmark.
Overall the machine feels nice to use, and has great thermal, but its lackluster graphics performance and fans that make that dreaded whistling noise pretty much mean you need a room to yourself when gaming and some closed headphones/ in ear monitors with comply foam tips. Don't even try using open back headphones if you are like me. The blade 15 i had wasn't nearly as bad in this regard. I originally upgraded to this machine from an old GS60 Ghost pro (4 years, 3 months). That thing, while loud, was bearable to use with open back headphones. The base of the GS60 is also more rigid than that of the GS75. Also, fun fact, GS60 and GS75 are almost the same size, with the same keyboard layout. GS75 is wider, but shorter.
If you guys want me to do some more testing, or some suggestions to try and get the graphics card to perform better, please inform me on what to do c:
EDIT:
Also forgot to mention, the mic jack on this laptop is one of the cleanest sounding ones i have ever used, in case you guys carry around a modmic. It also has the mic boost option, which is needed if you want your modmic to be anything but quiet..unless you want to rely on automatic gain control. Headphone out is also very nice. MSI nailed the audio with this device.
EDIT 2: might as well add my GPUz screenshot. its definitely 80W.

EDIT: i did not want to double post so im just going to put some new findings here.
as i was stress testing to find the ideal fan curve, there were 4 things i noticed.
1) loading both cpu and gpu will tank performance even though neither are throttling
what i mean by this is, if i run msi kombuster and prime95 at the same time, the gpu usage in msi kombustor plummets from 90% to just 35%, which in turn drops the frame rate for kombustor v4, openGL msi test, at 1280x720, from 288fps to 98fps. Now, this should not happen. I tested the same test on my old GS60 and my desktop with the GTX 980, with NO performance drop, even on win 10 1809. My gs60 was able to outperform the gs75 in this test, at 125fps!!! my desktop sustained 188fps.
2) single channel memory is NOT the problem. i took out a stick from both my desktop and gs60, with negligible performance difference in cinebench R15, msi kombustor, as well as 3Dmark benches. i don't deny that it is app dependant, as destiny 2 framerate was cut by 10fps approx, (average 130 to 120fps on desktop)
3) you do not have full control of the fan curve. in fact i don't know if i have any control whatsoever. fans go near full throttle whether i like it or not, when the gpu goes above 55 degrees, or cpu goes above 70 degrees. the odd part here is, the fan that i can't control is the GPU fan. the cpu fan seems to listen when i tell it not to spin up.
4) most of the whistling noise comes from the cpu fan, and not the gpu fan.Last edited: Feb 22, 2019 -
Your comments about performance make me think there might be something limiting you like on EC firmware. A hard power limit. Despite the 2070 Max Q being somewhat disappointing, it still should be stronger than what the numbers it is giving you, specially playing. Until I get mine and I can test it, I am afraid I can't help much. Have you tried forcing max performance on nvidia control panel and monitor your GPU usage % and clocks? Hopefully we can gain a bit of insight of what is happening with the performance.Atma likes this. -
I think people are too afraid of flex, and it is somewhat understandable. People went crazy over GT73 because the LCD Lid is very flexible, but I found that worry to be basically unfounded, as the LCD is not really under any load where flex is a particular issue, and I haven't had any problems with putting anything from books to other stuff on top of my machine that would cause any problem.
MSI can certainly improve their rigidity, and hopefully they will, but I think that once I try the GS75, I will feel similar... flex will be there, but won't be an issue. I hope so!
I also didn't like the hinges were plastic, colored to match, or so I read somewhere. I don't mind the color itself, I kind of like the idea, but maybe they look odd/different because they are different material?ALLurGroceries, Atma, Kevin@GenTechPC and 2 others like this. -

*disclaimer before you read the rest of the post: my gs60 ghost pro has really spoiled me and has set the bar really high for what i want in a laptop. i want a laptop that improves on what i got 4 years ago. i do not want to sacrifice anything along the way. at this rate, i feel like the thinkpad x1 extreme would be better off for me.*
ugh.... i ran some more tests with warframe and anthem comparing my 4+ year old gs60 ghost pro with a 970m to the gs75 with rtx 2070 maxq...
the frame rate differences in real games, with the 419.17 driver is so frustratingly small between the two laptops. i maxed out all the settings. the only difference was in anthem. I would get approx 50fps on the gs75 in anthem with max AA, rest of the settings maxed, 1080p. on the other hand, my gs60 ghost pro would get approx 35fps, resulting in the gs75 providing a ~45% increase in performance. thing is, i was really trying to push the gpus in an attempt to maximize the difference, but the results seem so lackluster. i've tried different drivers, clean install, putting the laptop into high performance mode, both in windows and msi dragon center, but the increase in performance feels so lacking compared to my gs60.
pair that with the fact that my gs60 has arguably the best display msi has put on their gs series, (the panasonic 2880x1620 panel, im getting 330nits, 1000:1 contrast, 76% AdobeRGB) the image looks much sharper on the gs60 even if you turn aa off on the gs60, while keeping the game in 1080p. the gs60 feels sturdier, and doesn't creek/ make a crinkling sound every time i pick it up. i will give the gs75 a win for the 2 extra cpu cores of performance, much better battery life, better looks, better cooling and quieter fans....but i personally feel like making the sacrifice of going to a super low dpi on the screen, losing the full size sd card reader, plus disappointing performance is pushing me to just return the laptop and wait till 7nm laptop parts start debuting. at $3100 + tax (CAD), i am not satisfied by this purchase. it sucks though because i hastily bought the laptop at a store that charges a restocking fee (10%) if the laptop isn't crippled in some way...
im going to take the laptop to uni in my bag one day and see how comfortable i am in putting it inside my crowded bag. im a bit nervous in doing so.
here is a vid i took of a sound test i did as a request SoundSS made (please ignore the clicking sound, its a clip from a strap hitting the camera as i move):
here is a picture showing how bowed my screen is (zoom in to see the white light bleeding between the aluminum extrusion and the laptop's lid to get an idea of how bowed it is. picture is 42 Mpixel):
keep in mind, in this picture, i have not yet put the gs75 in my bag. the bowing was either there from before opening the package, or introduced as a result of carefully handling the laptop (picking it up, placing it on another table).
EDIT: one more thing. for those that care, the feet of the laptop do a terribly job of keeping the laptop in place. they are closer to hard plastic than they are rubber. when i tried a 2018 GS65, that had proper rubber feet and kept itself planted on a table. the gs75 moves around very easily on a table, similar to the razer blade 15. the feet on the blade 15 are slightly more grippy if anything, but the blade 15 is equally bad IMO.Last edited: Feb 25, 2019Atma likes this. -
Just got the GS75 rtx 2070, 32gb ram. After repasting and bios mods. I’m working on the 2070 I hit 55-62c on it but I’m looking for flashing a 90w bios or tweaking the current vbios. Fans were on auto during these runs.
Driftingnfsc3 and Atma like this. -
here is my run without undervolt, stock paste, auto fans, ambient temp = 24°C:
here is the same run, with -0.145 undervolt:
i still cannot increase the 45W PL1 :c it says 64W but it doesn't listen, so i can only get 1240 for the first run. after the first run it gets somewhat inconsistent, but stays in the mid 1100s. the cpu package temp hits 91°C only initially as the fans are still basically off.
i am genuinely interested in trying to unlock this laptop's true potential. its cooling system is more than capable.Last edited: Feb 26, 2019Atma likes this. -
The paste is a new patented liquid metal formulation not on the market yet, we’re still waiting on a few third party/independent tests to come back from labs. My ambient temp was 23c, Just had the laptop on my countertop (image attached). following the guide here to unlock your bios and perform the tweaks http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-and-discussions-lounge.815216/#post-10705417 just remove and undervolt you've done before doing the bios tweaks. To enter the bios, while in bios press and hold Left ALT + Right CONTROL + Right SHIFT and F2. The hidden selections in bios will appear. You'll also be able to spoof voltage reporting and in theory get beyond 45W PL1.

Thanks to everyone posting about experiences because it really helps those of us making buying decisions and figuring out what to do. I now understand that it's almost a requirement to repaste and undervolt if you want these thin and light laptops to be worthwhile in terms of good performance--something that will likely keep me from returning it when I see the performance and thermals out of the box not living up to my expectations. With some tweaking I'm thinking the GS75 will be a great laptop that should last a while.Atma likes this. -
Likewise the Gs65 looks like a 14 inch laptop but with a bigger screen.
From the looks of it, the 2080MQ with the 90w is a good idea to have performance close to a GTX1080. The 2070 from what I have seen thanks to users here and videos, is strangely underperforming. I do advise someone can find the 90w version of it (if it exists) because the thermal headroom is there, and at 80w these GPUs are choking hard.
I hope I can play with my GS75 soon!Atma, JRey, seanwee and 1 other person like this. -

Ideally, you can feel how the factory paste was done by reducing the overvolt on the CPU and running tests. If temps are still too high after undervolting, then the paste must be changed.
Removing the excess voltages + a good paste job with a quality thermal paste will shave off temps like crazy.custom90gt, Weaboo1917 and David Kirchik like this. -

I've had my 2070 for 10 days now and have had a few blue screen errors.
There was an issue about a day after I got it with GeForce Experience crashing when it tried to download a new driver. I had to uninstall it and reinstall to get it to work again. Looking online it seems there were a load of people with the RTX GPU reporting the same issue.
Other than that I've had;
Stop Code: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE
What Failed: nvlddmkm.sys
Stop Code: VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL
Stop Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
That last error was yesterday just after I booted it up after I came home from work. It had been completely shut down all day until I came home. Other than run a few benchmarks, install the latest drivers and play a few games I've done nothing at all to it everything is completely stock, 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD, RTX 2070 MAX Q.
It is a very slim laptop for what it is, can't complain about the style and design of it. Only thing I don't really like is the touchpad. It's great to look at, but it really gets in the way when you are trying to type. There's no comfortable way to rest your palm when you are trying to avoid touching it, it's not that much of an issue since I'm using a mouse and have the touchpad turned off. But it really does seem like a pretty big oversight in where they placed it. -
It does seem like the touchpad idea was good on paper but they need to implement good palm rejection, otherwise the thing is going to get in the way.

an update to my mini review. i tried everything to unlock performance that didn't require me to do bios mods or opening the laptop up. this included uninstalling dragon center, attaching a monitor via the HDMI port (HDMI port is directly connected to the 2070) and reverting back to win 10 1803 from 1809, which didn't make a difference. although, i did have to factory reset the laptop because 1809 screwed up the image and i kept getting BSODs in Anthem when i tried playing it on 1809. BSODs went away on 1803. i forgot what the code i got was, but i know for sure it was software related, unlike what Zooport's BSOD stop codes appear to be.
uninstalling dragon center had no effect. im guessing i need to pull out the cmos battery for the effect of that action to become active.
i decided to reinstall dragon center, downloading it from MSI's website, as i noticed the fans barely came on and temps for the gpu and cpu would hit 90°C even with the undervolt enabled. to my surprise, the dragon center i reinstalled had a new option in the list of profiles. a turbo mode. it appears the turbo mod overclocks the GPU, in a way that afterburner was not... at least for me. i was able to get 135MHz on the code and 300MHz on the vram stable. This was a first guess. the default values are 100MHz and 200MHz offset. The image below shows my settings:
with these settings, a -0.141 voltage offset to the cpu, cooler boost fan setting enabled, and the laptop attached to an external monitor via hdmi (and only displaying to said monitor), i reran firestrike to get the results shown below:
its a pretty big performance increase! the odd part is, the GPU still only reaches a max power usage of 80W, but im getting 1000 points more on average, for the graphics score. Combined score went up by 1500. temperatures are just fine with cooler boost, albeit the laptop is indeed loud.
Also, after taking the laptop to uni for 2 days, i have gained a bit of trust in the build of it. The screen isn't any more bowed than it was upon receiving it, and it feels solid in general. the crinkling noise when i pick it up is still there though, and the slipperiness of the laptops feet is driving me insane. The trackpad is causing excessive strain on my right hand as i try to subconsciously avoid resting my hand on it while typing...as i type this >.> sometimes if you accidentally click the trackpad with your palm, it will divert cursor placement, causing you to type else where. clicking the touchpad is not a rare occurence, but thankfully palm rejection is decent enough that the cursor getting diverted is relatively rare. doesn't change the fact that typing with this trackpad is awkward and straining.
everything said and done, i still feel like i should be getting more performance. that paired with the annoying trackpad placement and slippery feet on the laptop are the only major reasons why i am going today to the store where i got the laptop, and try to return it for a full refund... i sure hope i don't have to pay restocking fee, as there are some other troubles the laptop gives me, such as the right shift key needs more force than just bottoming out the key to activate it and the wifi card occasionally disconnects. i hope everything goes well because $400 is not a small amount of money for nothing in return... i mean i guess those $400 allowed me to experience the laptop and share those experiences with you guys.
EDIT: without cooler boost on, using a custom fan speed profile that is much quieter, my graphics score drops to 16850, cpu score drops to 15700 and combined 8000, for a resulting score of just over 15000. im not giving exact values, just averages. doing the test on the internal display of the laptop seems to make no difference in the results. the odd part is...GPU isn't supposed to be throttling, even with the custom fan speeds. GPU hits a max of 70°C. The CPU hit 94°C and started throttling, but you would think the CPU wouldn't pull down the graphics scores by 500 because of it. CPU wasn't even reaching those temps in the graphics tests. *shrugs* something fishy is still going on.
i did the prime95 + msi kombustor test again, attached to an external monitor or using the internal monitor makes a HUGE performance difference. if you use internal monitor, msi kombustor @1280x720 drops to 90-110 fps from 280 fps. when attached to an external monitor, it drops to 200 fps from 300 fps. Many probably already know the reason for this. The cpu shares power with its iGPU, the hd 630. When you strain the cpu to 100%, the igpu doesn't have much power left for itself. The internal display is connected through the igpu because it is needed for nvidia optimus to work. basically... the igpu is throttling the 2070 more than it should. i suspected lowering cpu clock speeds or increasing the power limit to alleviate most of this. so i tested this as well, by lowering the cpu clock to 2.8GHz using throttlestop. kombustor fps got boosted to 190 fps. right after changing to 2.8GHz with the undervolt, kombustor and prime 95 running, im peaking 27.4W of package power. this slowly goes back upto 37.4W of package power. strangely, if i decide to close kombustor, cpu package power goes to 41W. closing and restarting prime95 brings the package power back down to just 26W. confusing...
EDIT 2: the actual results are inconsistent. i tried re running at 2.8GHz. it seems like it takes a while for the iGPU to fully engage, increasing its clock speeds. this retest has been going for 5 mins and fps is still at 95 :/Last edited: Mar 2, 2019Atma likes this. -
I'm currently playing the Division 2 beta, seems no matter what the settings I choose I seem to be getting between 45-65fps it changes pretty frequently. The only time it hits above 100fps is during the menu screen. Looking about online and the GTX 1060 3gb is pulling off 61fps so I'm really not sure what's going on with the 2070, I know it's MQ but still...
-
im just going to say this...it doesn't matter if it is maxq... i got way better frame rates on a razer blade 15 that had a 1070 max q. the in game frame rates we are getting from the 2070 max q in the gs75 is clearly being sabotaged, most likely something to do with software/firmware, and/or bottlenecked. problem is, it benchmarks with reasonable values, which makes it hard to figure out what exactly is causing the issue....i won't throw the "games aren't optimized properly" scenario out the window...but if im getting better frame rates on older machines...something is wrong. could also be single channel mem.
that said, the edits i made in my previous post point to the intel iGPU not clocking up reliable. basically...it appears to be an optimus issue.Last edited: Mar 2, 2019 -
Regarding CPU temps, you may be limited by the stock paste. I would try limiting your max turbo to 3.7 6 cores, 3.8 4 cores, 3.9 2 cores and redo your undervolt. Use throttlestop TS Bench to run the 1024 test. If you can run it 3x back to back with no errors, you’re pretty much stable. This should drop your CPU temps considerably without much change in FPS (2% in my experience.
Also, before you return the laptop, you should consider trying the bios mods by hackness and Falkentyne.

Maybe I'm expecting too much from the max q design? Although my gut feeling is telling me there has to be an issue somewhere considering it's struggling to hit 100fps in real world gameplay.
EDIT: I did run the benchmark in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and hit average 57fps on the "Highest" pre set. That matches up exactly with other benchmarks I've seen for the 2070mq. What's depressing is that the 2060 running the same CPU ran the same benchmark and made 65fps average.Last edited: Mar 2, 2019 -
I'm going to run the big furry doughnut, and a million others. Will post results after.
*update* don’t do it, not with the “P” bios type. It’ll max at 148watts but clocks crash, temps went up about 8ish degrees, with no performance gain, I believe it to be a limit of the 230w PSU.Last edited: Mar 2, 2019 -
i was not going to try bios mods as that would have made it difficult to return the device, in case i did end up bricking the laptop. the store i bought it from are very stringent in testing the computers to see if what the customer said is correct or not. otherwise, i would've done them a while ago. the same goes for repasting. there is a sticker on the gs75 covering one of the screws that says "FACTORY SEAL". that being said, i have already returned the laptop, and they did check for the sticker to be intact. there is something else going on that is limiting the performance, and im guessing it is something to do with optimus. with the fan curve i had in earlier tests, there was no thermal throttling, no current limit throttling, nothing of the like, except power limit throttling (i couldn't change it without bios mods).
as for driver versions i have used, the ones that came with the laptop were 417.24 i think? i also tried 418.91 (my mini review on pg.16 used this, you can see it in the gpuz screenshot) and 419.17 for the recent tests with the newer dragon center. the performance difference from 418.91 and 419.17 was negligible, except for Anthem, where the average frame rate jumped ~8fps (55 to 63 on average).
after everything is said and done... i feel a bit sad that i have returned the laptop now, as i can no longer run tests and post them for everybody to see here. i hope i helped some people get an understanding of the quirks of the laptop. i shall most likely go back to lurk mode on these forums. i have a sudden feeling of "i don't belong here" :c
on the other hand, it was probably a better choice. i was using whatever free time i had from university to run the tests, neglecting my projects a bit because of it...which reminds me... i still need a powerful laptop thats reliable, so i can effectively complete my projects ;-;Atma likes this. -
So the 2060 is faster than the 2070? In all tests anywhere? Or is it RTX in general that has problems over the previous generation? I think I read that before somewhere which is very disappointing.

I haven't seen anyone benchmark the 2060 in the GS75 yet though, they have only been tested in other laptops.
I'm a bit annoyed with myself because I was originally going to get the 2060 instead of the 2070mq because it was £200 cheaper but the 2070mq came in stock on the 17th Feb and the 2060 still doesn't have a date. -
Hi Guys.
How is the light bleed on the GS75?
I got a GE75 on Saturday after two GS65 units but will be returning it because of the BLB on my unit. I will probably be hunting for a better replacement but I`m also wondering about the GS75. -
Managed to get my GS75 with RTX 2060 few days ago, upgrade from Asus Zephyrus M, the performance of this laptop is absolutely amazing and I decided to write a short review about this.
Display: Definitely the most beautiful display on gaming notebook which I've ever had, the color is vibrant with high brightness and not sure if I am lucky with this unit or what, there's no noticable light bleeding at all and the bezel seems to be even thinner than the GS65, especially the chin of the display, which resulted in even more immersive experience.
Keyboard: SteelSeries MSI's keyboard, as always, I've had no complain with it
Build Quality: The build quality seems to be improved compare to the last year's GS65 model, but I think it's still not good enough for a high end laptop like this 1
Touchpad: There's a lot of complain out there stating that the trackpad is too huge which result in bad typing experience, but honestly, i think this complain has been overblown, the palm rejection of the trackpad seems to be doing a very good job, so far, I've had 0 experience with accidentally triggering the touchpad while typing, and I love the fact that the trackpad is so big which give me a very good tracking experience, I definitely can survive without bringing a mouse while doing productivity work.
CPU: 8750h CPU in this laptop is as usual, suffering from thermal throttling, but the performance has been very stable after undervolting 0.135, the CPU frequency maintain at 3.7 Ghz in non cpu intensive game like overwatch and etc, meanwhile for CPU intensive game like battlefield 5, the CPU frequency will be maintain at 3.2 GHZ, considering the thin chasis of this laptop, I absolutely impressed by the performance. It's also very important to note that I currently living in high humid country where the ambient temperature can goes up to 28c-29c.
GPU: The temperature will goes up to 85c, but the performance is still stable
For the RAM of this system, there's a lot of complain out there stating that single channel of 16gb ram caused the performance of RTX card to be underperforming, which seems to be true, according to the review, GS75 came with 16gb single channel configuration. BUT, much to my surprise, my unit actually came with Dual-Channel x2 8GB 2666mhz ram and the performance is wayyyyyy higher than the other RTX 2060 laptop's benchmark which can be found on youtube or forum.
Lastly, for game like battlefield V, I've been able to push the FPS in the range of 70-80 fps in Ultra setting, 50-60 in ultra setting with ray tracing and DLSS on, Dota 2 110-130 fps, Shadow of the tomb raider 70-80 fps. There's definitely at least 20-25% improvement over my last Zephyrus M laptop which came with full fat GTX 1070, overall, I am indeed very impressed with the performance and how MSI able to pack such performance in a laptop which is so thin and light.
Not sure if I missed out anything about this laptop, but, in the case of you guys have any question regarding the laptop, can always feel free to ask me, I would be very glad to answer all your question, Thanks.Last edited: Mar 27, 2019ryzeki, Atma, Weaboo1917 and 1 other person like this. -
Great review Gary. I’m currently waiting for a 2070 machine myself. One question regarding the CPU, do you think it’s possible to run a stable 4 core or less speed of 4ghz? I’ll be using it for single thread, cpu heavy applications. I’ve ordered mine with a repast of LM, so hopefully that helps.

Im looking at the 2060 version in Australia.
There’s a mob who will add 8gb of ram for 150$ or 16gb for 250$ . The only reason Im going for extra ram is video card performance. Just wondering if I would get away with the 8gb or better to go with the 16gb.

Best --- 2x16GB > 2x8GB > 8GB + 16GB > 1x16GB > 1x8GB --- worst. -
How hard is it to add another 16GB RAM on this? I know you have to flip the motherboard, what are the chances of destroying it in the process?

So hopefully someone ends up posting some results.
I also hate that they have put a warranty void sticker on the bottom of the laptop too. I have to break it just to add a new SSD.
The NEW MSI GS75, 8th GEN Intel, NVIDIA RTX GPU with GDDR6!
