Do we know if this has the same flipped mobo as the gs65. I am planning to upgrade from my gs65 which i really like just miss a 17 inch screen and trying to decide which lightweight laptop I want and the flipped mobo was annoying on the 65 and would prefer an easier upgrade for ssd and ram. Both this and the ge75 look nice from MSI.

I also like the new alienware m17 since i do have the graphics amp but disappointing its not slim bezel or144hz screen option.

    A new video about the GS75 ( )
Looks like a really nice machine, 3 fans, 2080 max-q, 3 m.2 slots for storage and overall great design.
And apparently upgrading the SSDs has been made easier compared to the gs65 with 10-series gpus in it - nice!
I like that msi really take complaints seriously and improve their laptops! This one definitely is one of my favourite options at the moment. :)

Thanks for the video this is great news. I am leaning towards the gs75 for my next upgrade now that its easier to access the drives. Only thing i am not crazy about is those gold hinges wish it was just black but minor complaint. The gs65 has been real solid for me and this looks like an improvement all around.

I am looking forward to the prices leaning towards the 2080 right now

No G-Sync? Uses Optimus most likely, hard pass. Why do these laptop manufacturers continue to use Optimus on high end gaming laptops.

Trying to please battery life freaks, I never used a gaming laptop while it wasn’t plugged in so I’m not sure where they are coming from personally lol.

Seems like the GS75 will have stronger CPU cooling power vs the GS65, as the CPU will have one more heat pipe linking to the fan at the GPU side.

Are the other laptops that were announced at CES with both Optimus and Gsync using MUX switches? Or the new vrr/freesync compatability? Would be nice to be able to use adaptive V Sync that Optimus equipped laptops can't use in some games

There are a lot of desirable features but the lack of higher resolution screens is a turn off. I hope they come along at some point.

They will definitely come with time. The problem is that marketing is shilling for 4K screens, and those not only are more expensive, but also way more power consuming to run, and not available in high refresh as much.

It would have been ideal to see 2560x1440 high refresh screens to gather popularity. Right now its 1080p high refresh, and will become 4K all the way in the coming years.

I see two USB-C ports. Is one of these supporting VirtualLink for VR? You would think it should with NVidia selling this feature but as I understand it requires an additional 35watts on top of the RTX TDP requirements. USB-C also needs alternate mode support so I’m unsure which of the 40 laptops will support this.

One of the Type C ports is Gen 1 so idk

Is there any reason for these laptop manufacturers mixing older version of ports(including HDMI and DisplayPort) when other laptops with the same motherboards etc have the newer ones?

There is no VirtualLink available on laptops, i think. Wasn't this feature only introduced with the RTX 2060 desktop graphics cards ?
Probably will take some time for notebook manufacturers to implement this in their lappies.

Got my name in the hat for one of these... been looking for a fairly lightweight 17.3" to sit in my lap while in my recliner. Been using a Dell Latitude 15.6" that is just as heavy as this one, if not slightly heavier. I am just hoping it will be as quiet as my Dell.

    1 x Microphone-in jack
    1 x Thunderbolt 3
    1 x USB 3.1 Gen. 2 Type-C
    3 x USB 3.1 Gen. .2 Type-A Ports
    1 x RJ45 LAN Jack
    1 x HDMI (v 2.0) up to 4K @60Hz

Looking at these also, but $2800 for the 2080 max q is going to be tough on the wallet. That is a $400 premium over the 2070 max q, and a full $700 over the 2060, if the current pricing is to be believed. (Or another way of looking at it: $1000 more than I can hope to get for my Aero 15x...)
And that is only with the i7-8750h

Personally I am not as huge of a fan of 4k screens in gaming laptops, since most laptop GPU's can't really drive them.
It would be nice for editing on the go but also for the power consumption and lower refresh rate it is worth the trade.

By the way, does anyone know if the screen folds flat? That is a minor annoyance I have with my Aero 15x

It is definitely a huge premium ofer RTX2060. I actually think the RTX2070 max q vs the RTX2060 will be so close, the only actual upgrade will be the 2080 max q, but at a hefty price. I prefer high refresh as well instead of 4K.

What do you mean with screen folds flat? Like it doesn't have a tab or something to hold to when opening?

The Aero 15x screen angle is limited to about 140 degrees. So depending on how you are holding it, the angle is not always optimal. A screen that opens a full 180 degrees at least would be helpful, but I have seen no one open the screen as far as it can go.

    ++ higher resolution
Use more for business / work than gaming. But still game a bit. I would prefer 4k or even 3k/1440p (although I think market has spoken that they do not want this res) with the 2060 for value, even though just 60Hz, in the thin GS75.

It's hard enough for me to see what's on the screen at 1920 x 1080 .... 4K would be even smaller.

I know, it is very small.
However, I would actually permanently down scale to 1440p/3k most of the time, or 4k with large fonts. I just dont have enough real estate with 1080p for mapping/GIS/web and even some spreadsheets and docs work.

I have a 4K GS73. Apart from one or two older programs scaling has now been totally dealt with by Windows 10. I wouldn't go back to HD now and 4k is worth more to me than refresh rate.

It seems very weird that it has this much power but no mention of better resolutions.

Anyway prices are up in the UK. £2500 for the 2060. £3400 for the 2080. That's £900 purely for the card upgrade.

And for a card that rumors suggest might not be much faster than a GTX 1080. Not the 1080 Ti, a standard run-of-the-mill 1080. Oof.

Hey, our 1080s are not bad! They are still on the level of 2070s :p

but yeah, I think the mobile versions of these new RTX will be less than expected. Perhaps the RTX2060 won't shine as it should either. I am still hopeful the RTX2080 max q will be near my normal GTX1080. So I am expecting around 35% perf loss over the desktop.

Somehow I expect Nvidia / vendors will figure out a way to have the new GPU's at least 10%-15% better than the previous 10 series model. Max-Q to Max-Q, and full performance models too.

There may be limitations preventing further OC to the full desktop performance, RTX mobile sales may be slowed, and people would buy the previous 10 series builds instead if the RTX mobile GPU's aren't significantly "better" in performance than the previous 10 series models.

It could be that the 10 series will still be desirable in performance and lower cost, time will tell. :)

Yes same for me. I get the gaming edge of 144Hz G-Sync for 1080p...but the higher res is what I need for work too. I would tend to use 4k and large font setting or something. Windows 10 would have it figured as you say, in Ubuntu 18.04+ it is also looking pretty nice. I have a current 3k 17" screen and is excellent for me. I think 3k's are being phased out and only 4k's being produced now. I still hope there is a GS75 4k version, even on RTX 2060.

So the Max q 2080 is on par with a stock GTX 1080 that is found in the GT73/GT75.

I wonder what % the RTX 2080 will have over the GTX 1080.

I'm seriously disappointed that he didn't clear up the most important information:

Is the motherboard still flipped? Can we remove RAM and fans without disassembling the whole laptop?

I mean come on... he opened up the laptop but didn't show us, what's under the black sheet covering the whole motherboard... wtf?!

Besides... it's pointless to ask these questions in the comment's section of the video, because it's spammed by hipsters and groupies, who just post for the sake of posting, and don't really care about anyway, and who will make any serious question disappear at the bottom within minutes of posting. Waaargh! I'm disgusted!

There are quite a few videos and write-ups out there that state how much easier it is to swap out the hard drives and memory... and the power connector is on the left side instead of the right side, which is a good indication it is not the same as it has been.

Uhm, no one has really opened it yet. The only thing which was verified from the beginning was, that the SSDs can be removed without flipping the motherboard. This was confirmed on CES2019 as well. But it was never confirmed that you have the same easy access to RAM and fans.

You're not imagining this. I've heard such statements as well, but I don't trust them as mostly everyone just mentioned the SSDs to swap easily. There was also some video clip where an MSI guy says "yeah yeah" to a newswriter about exchanging RAM, but I'm not sure if he really understood or knew exactly... well... it made my doubts rise (together with the fact, that the fan setup - the triple cooling booster - looks exactly the same as in the GS65; and then my own observations, that MSI rarely makes significant changes to their inner layouts). There are some serious doubts I have, and therefore I want to see a hard proof first.
