Wow, much cooler compared to both the 870m/880m Keplar versions of the GS60. I'm planning on ordering the GS60 1080p version with the 970m in the next couple of days for college. Anyone have any reputable sellers that are selling these already? I was told that they would go on sale today.

I saw the thread and I thought "there are owners already?!" hahaha.

970m should run cooler than 870m, while offering on average 15% better performance than 880m's best showing :) Definitely a great upgrade.

All I want is the 970M model with a 1080p screen available in the UK. So far all of the offerings have the 3K screen.

Configurations with FullHD are about to come in a month ... I don't know why MSI went like this but I am also waiting for that configuration, not interested in 3K at 15.6" monitor, maybe at 27" but i am still just fine with my 27" FHD Samsung :)

Those temps are really really amazing over even GTX860M not only 870M KeplEEEr(not Keplar) ... hopefully they also linked the fans of it :) even if not than it no more bothers me but I would appriciate it :D

And hopefully they will stay with that perfect FullHD screen like in 2PC or 2PE version ...

Wonder why there is no 1080p / 16gb / 6gb vram config - i would totaly pull the trigger on it right now :/

In Poland they only offer 3k version with 3gb vram - and im not convinced to this resolution :/

Actually, one of Polish resellers offers 2h delivery in 2 biggest Polish cities and have 3k gs60 in stock, so it would be possible to have it from 7.10, 3pm CET if you ordered it just after the release ;)

Why don't you ask users here about their experience with 3K? It seems you are worried about the negative comments made by some users regarding scaling.

Best to ask directly from the source eh?

I did (eg. in : http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...0m-series-officially-announced-nvidia-18.html ) - apparently issues with scalling normal apps are quite common, also gaming in lower res than native will result in loosing the crispy graphics to some bluriness :/

Although i will definately look for some more info on YT tomorrow - the possibility of having it in 2h from order totaly stole my heart :)

Looks like MSI aren't launching the GS60 with 970M 6GB and 1080p screen (i.e. the 064 version that we all want) in the UK anytime soon. We're stuck with the silly 3K screen in a 15 inch laptop and the 3GB version of the 970M. :(

What's the big deal with the 6Gb ? So much memory will only be useful in 3k/4k resolutions (or multi-screen). 3Gb is more than enough for a Full HD screen, isn't it ?

Seems that there is slighly modified model avalaible in France ; Ordinateur portable - GS60 2QE-040XFR - GTX 970M (Sans OS) - MSI - Achat / Vente sur Materiel.net

    970M 3Gb, Full HD, but only 8Gb of Ram. For 1600€ (2030$ ...)

I would like to have a review of the autonomy. 4 hours in Wifi mode is a minimum for me.

GS60 reach 4hours easily but don't expect more than 4hours, less if you use max brightness/keyboard lights and high performance mode is on.

I posted 1 link still up, sadly i lost the second link because it got soldout and was at "back order" so i closed it, newegg might get the 6gb version soon too or amazon?
edit: just noticed xotic changed their shipping date from available to preorder hmmm

I meant the lower priced ones... you wrote the 3K version is available for less than 1999 and you saw the least price to be somewhere around 17k.... where???
on Xotic and Gentech: the 1799 ones are the 1080p model with 3GB vRAM, the 6GB ones cost hundred bucks more

Hmm good to know that GS60 with FHD,SSD and Win8.1 cost 1280€ without VAT ! That's perfect! Hopefully there will be model without Win and SSD so I can put in it Crucial M550 256GB rather then have that fail Toshiba SSD -_-

EDIT: Oh...it's already without OS ... please GS60 do not disappoint with the price ...

Can anyone confirm whether the new GTX 970M, 1920x1080 version of the Ghost Pro has same the SDC324C display as the previous model? This is, in my opinion, the best of the three displays available, the other two being the MEI96A2 (2880x1620) for the Ghost and the CMN1736 (1920x1080) for the Stealth.

For me, the only drawbacks of the Ghost Pro are the exorbitant price and the intense fan noise. The noise is loud enough to be compared to a vacuum cleaner. In exchange, the laptop weighs 4.2 pounds and is .78 inches thick.

The older version did go on sale on Newegg after a few weeks, so maybe waiting until and after Black Friday is the best strategy.

So there's some conflicting stories going on. Xotic PC shows the same temps as the GS60 for their GS70, where as GenTech PC shows about 5 degrees or so less. I assumed that this meant the tests were not long enough to be conclusive for a gaming session and different ambient air temps. Perhaps the building at Xotic PC was 5 degrees hotter so it caused their PC to get hotter.

If you were to play a game for say an hour is the cooling system gonna be able to handle the temps for a prolonged period?

    That's what I wonder.

GS60 with 970m can handle the heat 24/7 the previous GS60 couldn't unless it and had to throttle
970M use less watt and generate less heat duo maxwell than previous kepler 870m card
The 5 Degree variation is normal depends on room temp+if was using better paste etc, point is it's no where as hot as the previous one
Really if someone getting 970m gs60 heat shouldn't be even an issue at all, the question that should be asked is will you be able to handle the fans noise or not.

50% of IT guys in here does not have salary higher than 1500€ too, that's not much if you compare it with German or Austria where even Toilet service get 1000€ ... :/

Which is great, 75-80 + no throttle > 90c While throttling
Cool part is even the CPU generate like 8C less heat too now (maybe because the chip right next to it is not burning hot lol)

We will know when reviews will appear. It's possible that they change the fan behavior. Personnally, I don't mind the fan going a bit berserk during heavy load (from the reviews I have read, it's not catastrophic), I just want them silent, or better, stopped, when browsing the web, coding some JS, watching a movie.

Are you in Slovakia? Did you manage to find anywhere some other MSI GS60 models than that 3K display, 8 GB RAM, 3GB VRAM GTX 970M one in Alza?

Heureka search just seem to show exactly the same model in few other shops, I assume referring to the same units somewhere in one warehouse.

No 6 GB VRAM or 1080p or 4K display or 12 GB RAM or 16 GB VRAM anywhere to be found here :(.

I even tried other EU countries and it seems the same everywhere - Czech republic, Poland, Germany, UK. Only in France there was one 1080p model, but still with just 3 GB VRAM.

It's just from the start, there are simply no other configurations right now ... more configurations should show up in a week or two :) but I don't think there will be a configration with 6GB vRAM in Slovakia or Czech Republic... Yeah I am from Slovakia :)

I have a dillema - i would love to have brand new gs60 right now, but only 3k+3gb vram models are available (one with 2x 128ssd cost 7099pln, so 1700EUR (still in budget but...)

Do you think that models with 1080p+6gb vram would be cheaper than 3k+3gb vram?

I also asked MSI abt possible date of arrival for 2qe-064 model, but did not recieve any answer :(

Don't crush my hopes, I still keep a (small) hope some seller here will wise up and order better versions :)

I wonder how they decide which SKUs to order. The difference in price between 6 GB and 3 GB VRAM is not that big - 100 USD and that includes RAM bump from 12 GB to 16 GB (according to MSI recommended pricing).

So even if we make it 100 EUR, that would just make it ~1,700 EUR for 12 GB RAM + 6 GB VRAM instead of ~1,600 EUR for 8 GB RAM + 3 GB VRAM. Much better notebook like this.

The only reason I could see is if they would be worried poorer market here would prefer cheaper models. But that's incorrect reasoning. If you are already somebody decided to buy a notebook around that price level (instead of some 500 EUR crap notebook), the difference is relatively small, so not really influencing buy/not-buy decision. Instead it will just drive knowledgeable buyers to look elsewhere.

And anyways, in that case they could go with 1080p versions, which should be cheaper than 3K ones.

BTW in Germany they also went with just 3 GB VRAM versions, though much higher speced other parameters, bringing prices over 2,000 EUR. Similar situation in UK. So even for richer markets sellers there made the same weird choice.

Hmmm, maybe there is a shortage of 6 GB GTX 970M GPUs? The only 6 GB versions I could find that you can buy right now are rebrands, not MSI labeled notebooks, so possibly sourced through different channels.

Well, at least that gave me a chance to cool down and think. Otherwise it would have been impulse purchase (next day delivery, oh my) and there are still reviews that need to come out and other similar notebooks to consider ;)

Next day is nothing - one of resellers here in Poland offers 2h delivery :p yet still i would rather take 6gb vram 1080p and thats the only thing that holds me off pressing "buy now" button ;)

Hehe, stay strong ;). Then NotebookCheck review will come up, and max temperature on the outside chassis will be 65 C, and we will be all glad we didn't jump the gun ...

Max 78 C on outside chassis for 3K GTX 870M Kepler MSI GS60 was just insane, 1080p GTX 870M Kepler model had max temp 58 C and 1080p GTX 860M Kepler model was just 42 C outside.

So kinda all bets are off what 3K GTX 970M may get - high resolution screen seem to make things really hot while Maxwell GPU should make it cooler. Really curious about more thorough reviews.

This makes me sad :(. I love my gs60 with 870m, i ordered it two months ago. Absolutely love the laptop, but seeing this 970, out performing 880m someone mentioned earlier in the post, and running cooler. Guess i'll see if i can get some offers in the for sale category lol.

I have to wait for the Ghost to drop down $400 before doing any buying. This could mean until after Christmas. However, the 970M with 6 GB VRAM looks great for the long-term.

For previous owners of the GS60, yes the new laptop runs cooler, but also much louder. At least there's a tradeoff. I wish more companies would choose which affliction they want, because many barebone notebooks are both loud and hot.

Asus is known for having great cooling systems at the expense of making them really large. Which is why their G551 was bad and their GX500 is going to be terrible. Also they cheaped out on the screen and graphics card. That sucked. They are really behind.

The Acer Aspire V15 Nitro is a work of engineering. Silent fans, and all the hotspots happen near the screen of the laptop. In my opinion, it is the best multimedia laptop out there. But, it also weighs 5.3 pounds, one whole pound more than the MSI GS60. If it ever comes to pass the V15 Nitro gets the GTX 970M, I am buying it without hesitation.

Okay I'm gonna give it a go. Just placed my order for the GS70-003 today (30 mins ago). Chances are it'll ship tomorrow if not early next week.

The only thing I did was request for Raid 0 configuration. Do you guys think I should have opted for the IC Diamond or is it unnecessary?

The people at XOTIC PC are extremely nice. I appreciate them lol. This is my second PC from them.
