    Hey by the way @UsmanKhan, send a pic when it arrives? With the keyboard backlight. Cheers!

    Did anyone find out whether the 120hz panels are available for this chassis yet?

    And if they are, where to buy from?

    In an Email from a rep I was told 120Hz will be available sometime in the Jan/Feb time frame and that it will be a 75$ upcharge from the standard display in the configurator. Don't know how much it will cost if you send it in for a straight upgrade.

    Just asking, if I want to upgrade to kabylake, can I just buy the CPU at the local stores? Or do I need to buy it from eurocom?

    First there wont be much of an upgrade, its like 2% faster, if you are going ahead with it, I would buy it at the store and do it yourself.

    2% faster? :rolleyes: Not that bad. More like 5% faster stock and the chips voltage is lower vs. multi. A good possibility for 4.9 GHz with under 1.275v :) Not a big gain if you already have a good binned chips, but maybe you can sell what you already have for a good price and jump on? Would be nice with a chips running +5.0 GHz in laptops :D

    Hey man, have you tried to disable HT in the BIOS and run on 4 cores, and tried to OC 100mhz-300mhz higher?

    It's likely doable and might get you to 5ghz now :)

    Bah, it's not fake, it's Real 5.0ghz on 4 Real cores, that's real enough for 99% of the games out there that don't use more than 4 cores to run.

    And, most app's are still single threaded, so even 1 Core running at 5.0ghz is a win for those apps.

    I've found 10c heat improvement under load when disabling HT's 4 Fake cores, so that's a consideration too - less heat, less fan spin, less noise :)

    I'll fix this for you my good friend... :D Most BENCH app's are still for MULTI threads cpu's, so a damn single Core or even better, 4 core without HT running at 5.0ghz is a BIG LOSE for these apps. See →→→ 6600K http://hwbot.org/benchmark/wprime_-...Id=processor_4016&cores=4#start=0#interval=20 :no:

    Vs my puny 4.8 GHz http://hwbot.org/submission/3357625_papusan_wprime___1024m_core_i7_6700k_2min_11sec_918ms :D
    I Need +6500 GHz for same Bench score without HT :D So, No... will not run Fake 5.0 GHz :D Nice try bro. +rep :D

    Well, you don't run benchmarks exclusively, you must run other things?

    But, yes, benchmarks generally try to use all the available resources, so if you disable HT your CPU numbers and overall score will drop - big whoop :p

    Most people only briefly run benchmarks as part of their acceptance testing of their laptops, and then after that the benchmarks get uninstalled to make room for applications and games.

    So for most things most people do on their laptop, disabling the 4 "Fake" cores won't be noticeable, except for quieter operation due to less power drawn, less heat generated, and slower running fans.

    If they dabble in under-volting and OC'ing those 4 remaining "Real" cores, then they have a chance of getting much better performance out of those 4 remaining cores, after disabling the 4 "Fake" (pseudo) cores thereby removing their power draw and thermal load from the CPU.

    But, yeah, if you are only about benchmarks, the value of disabling HT is in experimentation to find out how fast you can OC your 4 "Real" cores :)

    New figures are thrilling and if I need more room for other - more applications/games... BUY BIGGER SSD's :D Or delete older trash :rolleyes:
    If I want less heat, less fan spin, less noise... Quite simply, one key command and TS puts the clock to 4.5GHz. Can even set BGA clockspeed if I want to vomit like in my avatar :D A Huge risk getting very very sick, because such awful clock speeds remind me so much of what I hate :biggrin:

    Yes, you can downclock all cores + HT, but that makes single threaded apps run slower, all threads run slower. I'm suggesting running the 4 real cores at a higher clock rate for better app / game performance, gained by disabling the 4 pseudo cores power / heat load.

    Disabling the 4 HT cores makes a bigger drop in temp at 100% CPU usage than dropping cores multiplier a little bit with HT enabled.

    That's why I suggested playing with OC'ing / undervolting with HT disabled, it's a different animal in the same CPU. :)

    You advise me to turn off HT... At the same time you recommend BGA for new buyers of laptops. What do you recommend those buying desktops? Intel® Core™ i7-6700T Processor ? :D Or even better Intel® Core™ i5-6400T Processor JK ;)

    Hey man chill out. Some people don't necessarily plan to upgrade if they buy a laptop. @hmscott is making a good point about disabling the hyper threading. Do you even know what ht is? If you did, then you already know that it doesn't increase performance much compared to actual cores. They just have the command or info ready for the CPU physical cores, ready to feed them so that the CPU doesn't waste time getting all of it itself. They're not actual cores and I doubt games can make too much use out of them. They generate useless heat. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but don't try to doubt what @hmscott is saying because he probably knows a lot more than you based on the posts from you earlier.

    I've seen your posts man. It seems you have some understanding but what you don't get is that disabling ht is a better choice and an overall larger benefit for oc to 5 ghz because I doubt that the f5 can handle such heat.

    @birdyhands

    @Papusan is cool, we're friends, and we are only playing, while at the same time making our points.

    And, you are right, disabling HT is for practical reasons a good idea in many instances, when running with HT enabled provides no benefits.

    It's something that top OC enthusiasts use for highest OC on an HT CPU, disabling CPU HT gives you more headroom for the 4 Real Cores, and can be a benefit for gaming.

    @Papusan plays in the world of benchmark numbers using all cores, he can't attain his goals by disabling HT so he isn't interested in playing with it :)

    Just finished reading through all 119 pages of this thread, and I'm not sure if everything got cleared up or I'm even more confused o_O

    @Diversion
    1. Did you eventually get your problem solved? What was the issue?
    2. Your machine works fine on the 230 psu right? You just ordered the 330 just in case?
    3. You never did mention, how was your cooling pad helping your temps? Can you check with stock + cooling pad? Btw, this things ugly. Can you turn lights off?

    @Talon
    You almost made me turn away when support wasn't helping your issue. Glad that got resolved. Restored faith!

    @Thread
    1. Lots of people have mentioned ordering with no RAM, others without the ability to do so and forced to default to 8gb. What's the general consensus here, are they allowing us to order without RAM still? (I may just have to call and find out)
    2. To extend on this thought, the RAM everyone was describing as default was Crucial CT8G4SFS824A, but on the website the 8gb default is 2133. Did they recently change this?
    (Otherwise, to get to 2400, I'd have to upgrade for an unreasonable price, or just default the 2133 and remove it. Or just of course use the 2133, haven't heard much complaints vs 2400)
    3. I don't have a copy of windows. Any suggestions on getting a copy of windows 10 for discount?

    Lastly, as a request I'd like anyone to confirm the below, but pretty much what I've found out for anyone looking for the 6700K / 1070, the options you have that appear to work best are... (with links to some helpful places)

    For Temps..
    - Undervolt to -150 check out post #655 for Diversion's recommendation
    -Repaste ( Kryonaut or CLU works best)
    -Max Fans (However, if want quiet, recommend below)
    -CPU Delid.

    For Everything else..
    Install latest drivers HERE
    Don't Install / Uninstall GFE (GeForce Experience)
    Install KLM (For Keyboard Lights) Does anyone have a link for this download?
    Overclocking/underclocking (XTU/Throttlestop)
    Many people asked how hard it is to install the 3rd/4th RAM sticks. Eurocom Support posted a video in this thread. Find it HERE
    Silent Option
    Sound Blaster Cinema

    Issues still?...
    Disable G-sync

    Already a proud owner of this beast of a machine, but one questions bothers my technical mind... and i still have not found the answer.
    Can someone give a logic explanation why it does not support Nvidia Optimus? Not that i will use it on battery much anyways... but still curiosity.

    I appreciate you reading the thread before asking.

    1. Yes, I've heard both ways. IIRC, asking them to go back and remove the default RAM costs them money and effort so they stopped offering it. Still worth a shot if you want to contact them directly.
    2. Sometimes they don't have the 2133 MHz sticks on hand, so they give you a "free upgrade" to the 2400 MHz module. When your notebook ships, they will list the exact serial number on your invoice so that you can grab a matching module (or plan to sell it).
    3. I received my Windows 10 copy from my University. There are gray markets which sell Win10 for cheap, but I don't support those sites.

    These tweaks are necessary only if you order with the 6700K (or 7700K in the future). As you mentioned, a cooling pad, whether passive or active, can also help.

    -Additional drivers you might want to grab (you can pull them from the driver disk which comes with the notebook): Silent Option, Sound Blaster Cinema, and KLM
    -Don't disable G-Sync. Only do so if you encounter problems. For me, G-Sync in fullscreen mode is fully functional.
    -Rather than uninstall GFE, simply don't install it in the first place :p

    It's a LGA, socketed 15'' machine that uses desktop grade components. It was never meant to have amazing battery life, of which MSHybrid is meant to help with.

    Yep i was one of the "lucky" ones that got it with 8GB Hyper X CL14... wish i hadn't already ordered a matching 2133Mhz CL15 Micron stick :) Ah ...whatever ... will overclock the !@#$ out of it with Thaiphoon burner and see where it will get me ( on my E6430 i got 2 cheap Micron 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz sticks ... was able to clock em stable to 2133 Mhz CL11 ... even booted with 2400Mhz but never was able to stabilize them ... real world performance gains ~0... but the numbers are important :)

    Going from CL 17 to CL 14 is a quite decent free upgrade, even better than going from 2133 -> 2400 MHz. Congrats :D

    Well it's not desktop cool but the GPU runs at 43-45 degree at idle and at gaming... Didnt test yet because I'm still downloading my games...
    But I played r6 siege at very high and the wrist rest is scalding hot without cooler boost. But with it turned on it runs as loud as a jet engine. CPU... Haven't tested yet BC I'm still downloading games and I keep forgetting to get cpuz. Just in case you don't know how to change keyboard backlight color, download MSI dragon center for gt62vr (any model is fine, it's the same file) and it'll work just fine.

    Because iGPU is completely disabled, no use for it in a DTR

    Thats pretty good to me tbh, my dell in my signature has about same idle and i dont mind loud fans atall. What ambient temps? I just eant it quieter when doing xcode/android studio. On gaming i can afford full fans with fans on pads.
