Everything in BIOS is standard except for me switching from the RAID mode to AHCI. I no longer have the RAID. I did update the registry settings appropriately.

Changing fast boot off/on in BIOS did not make any difference.

This should be an easy case to resolve. Cold boot after a shutdown is perfectly fine. A "reboot" hangs on the MSI splash screen. What happens differently during a reboot versus a cold boot?

The machine would no longer boot all of a sudden. I remembered I made a change in BIOS.

Amazingly the problem occurred when I turned off "Secure Boot". It would no longer boot, no logo / splash screen even.

Turned the secure boot back on and it's booting now.

    what an interesting bug.
