I will defer to one of the resellers to answer how difficult adding the 3rd antenna is.

I would think it would be best to have it done when ordering. It may be easy to someone that does it daily but for the rest of us...... not so much.

I'm starting to get really confused, i'm looking at importning and i'm looking at buying domestic. The problem i am getting is if the price justiefies buying the domestic.

Here's the link for the domestic purchase
((it's in swedish but the specs are still there))
    http://www.inet.se/artikel/1969347/msi-gt780dx-231-geforce-gtx-570m

The pricing of that translated into USD is around 3.1k USD. 3.2k USD if i were to add windows word on top of it.

Looking at power notebooks, if i was to get similar specs including word it would cost me around 3k USD. But then i would have some added costs consisting off the converter for the wall adapter and a new keyboard ( even tho it's as simple to change the settings). That price is shipping tax included.

What is the most worth it , import , or buy domestic?

got my laptop today. Build quality around keyboard (bezel) still crappy. you have to push it down. Overall form and function: KickA$$.

Keyboard: lighting is fully lit and on mine, except several keys are extremely bright (same suspect keys:left Alt, AltGr, Windows Key, right Ctrl key, and Numbpad 0 key (why???)). So bright in fact, the color looks almost 'pinkish' when white leds are set. I'll just shut it off (lighting). My W,2 and other previous problematic keys are OK, but on this laptop, you have to hit the keys a bit harder to register overall.

Biggest problem on this particular (what I received) is the space bar. Left side of the space bar registers fairly OK, but the right side doesn't register very well.

Message to MSI, either take out your baseball bat and get SteelSeries to get their act together, or just cut your losses, and use another vendor.

Touchpad: After installing the latest drivers, it's not jumpy at all. Very nice to use.

Fan noise, and temp: Virtually silent or regular computing, and cool to touch.

    Speakers: KickA$$

Screen: No dead pixels here, and matte screen is simply awesome. So much easier on the eye.

i-charger: STILL does not work. I've tried everything! (ipad 2) If someone can post a video of it actually working, I'd be very grateful (don't tell me about the enablement on bios, not as dumb as you think I am)

Beta video driver: if you install this, you will NOT be able to adjust your screen brightness. Workaround: Enter bios screen, then adjust your brightness (hold function key down, and either up or down arrows) from there, and let the windows boot afterwards.

    Did I leave anything out?

Remember: I am not a fanboy, only providing a honest feedback. Overall, I love this laptop. Beautiful, powerful, frustrating (keyboard)

I cannot stress this enough. MSI has NOT fixed their keyboard issues contrary to what was posted here by a vendors. The keyboard is the BIGGEST drawback on this laptop.

    Goodluck everyone!

It is much cheaper buying in the USA. Configuring to the same specs on your local store with Gentech, the USA model is about $2100, I don't see how you get to $3000? However, you need to consider that buying in the USA you only get 1 year global warranty, If you buy in Sweden you get the standard EU 2 year warranty.

For the power cord you just need one of these.

i'm surprised to hear about your keyboard stroke problems. i had my keyboard replaced recently with the new revision, and i must say that missing keystrokes is completely non-existent now, and the effort to press down on keys is much improved over the original design (all very consistent and responsive). the lighting issue has not been addressed; however, the extremely brighter areas (altgr/windows key/ctrl/left arrow) are now not as bright as previously and do not bug me as much anymore. it's true they still have a few things to iron out as far as lighting is concerned, but overall, the new keyboard revision is a welcome change for me. for what it's worth, my bezel around the keyboard (mostly lower portion area where the steelseries logo sits) is kind of coming up, too and needs to be pressed down for it to be flush. kinda buggin me right now.

So what that the lighting is uneven, This is still by FAR the best keyboard I have ever tried on a notebook from any manufacturer. If you are really having missing keystroke issues, have them send you a new keyboard and be done with it.

My neighbor went through 2 laptops. First one, had typing problems. second one had really bad lighting issues. This one, little bit of both. I am equally surprised as you are. This clearly isn't an MSI issue, if it is, it's their fault for not cracking down on SteelSeries for the apparant Q/A problem.

Is it possible, that MSI slipped in a left over batch of bad keyboards on my lappy? Who knows... Find it hard to believe though.

I'll use it for 1 more week and see if typing improves.

BTW: Did MSI actually send you a keyboard, or did you RMA the lappy? If it doesn't improve after a week of break-in, I may call MSI for a new Keyboard.

I still have my FX7811 as a backup, but I sure hope that I won't have to send in my brand spanking new $1900 lappy for couple of weeks. Please let me know.

    Thanks.

Yes, they will ship you they keyboard, and no it does not affect your warranty that you changed it yourself. Contact where ever you bought it from and they can contact MSI for you.

The highest I've seen during an hours long gaming session (4 hours+) is 85C. Mind you with this is with Turbo on and OC with Afterburner (747MHz Core, 1495MHz Shader, stock memory).

One other frustration is the i-charger. When launched, i shows an 'x' on the icon. And when I connect my ipad 2, system recognizes it, but Ipad says "Not Charging" I've tried disabling, and enabling the i-charger function in the Bios. No dice. This is with the latest i-charger installed... If anyone knows a solution to this, please share with the the community. BTW: itunes is installed as well.

    Thanks.

There does seem to be some difference in the keyboards because my experience is completely different. All keys register nicely, good feedback. No give at all. The lighting is fine also. I do see a small bit of brighter lighting near the AltGr key, but nothing significant. This is just one of the best keyboards ever. Perhaps you should ask for a new one. Good luck!

For me, this keyboard is the downside of an otherwise great laptop. The keystrokes are the worst thing by far. I've had it replaced (twice). The second was worse than the original. The third was better, but is starting to drop keys again -- the spacebar especially. And then sometimes it sends multiple keystrokes. Not good for a touch typist at all.

Hopefully we're gonna get a solution to this. (I've lost about 5-6 spaces just typing that one paragraph)

The layout of the keyboard is preference, but the movement of the Windows key was a major fail. Don't make such radical decisions for your customer. Provider them a means to make the move -- BIOS setting perhaps to switch the Fn/Windows keys would have been a wiser choice. The small spacebar with the extra | key, also a mistake. Steelseries seems to have insane people working for them. Finally the combo PgUp/Home and PgDn/End with PgUp and PgDn taking precedence was another mistake. Either make it a BIOS setting or give separate keys. Do we need Pause/Break or Scroll Lock handy anymore? Those could have been Fn'd away with no problems.

Guys, with the new revision keyboard, are you able to actually register 10 keys simultaneously?

Anyone played any action RPG like Devil May Cry 4 with it?

Yeah I'm wondering this too!!! I play little fighter 2 with my friends and also devil may cry 4. LF2 sometimes needs to have over 10 keys to be pressed simultaneously if three people's playing on same keyboard, thus the steelseries keyboard really appeals to me.

^and that long post above is really true... I never use scroll button and | should've made them Fn combination

Please clarify a bit more Ken, does that mean even though they advertised 10 keys to be pressed simultaneously, it's actually not working as of now? and they'll change that later?

    Hi Guys,

Well, I finally got a little time to enjoy my GT780DXR, and here are some 'out-of-the-box' benchmarks, with the stock release 570M reference driver (268.90):

First run, all stock, no P1 Turbo (TDE):

Second run, with P1 Turbo (TDE):

Overall, I am immensely enjoying this notebook, and I have not experienced any reported issues whatsoever. Performance is fantastic, but I do find the 570M performance to be somewhat 'lack-luster' given the 1st release driver. Also, don't bother requesting I run benchmarks with MSI AfterBurner. I have made several attempts at this, and AfterBurner is not playing nice with my 570M. My scores were actually worse than with P1 Turbo, and I was not able to clock near what others are showing. Attempts at this only resulted in artifacts and system slow-down. I'll make another attempt at this when NVIDIA finally adds the 570M to it's Verde Driver Program.

    Enjoy!

    :)

There is a new Bios flash ( 1761_30B.zip) addressing this and other issues.

Also for those interested, a new EC Firmware flash ( 1761_1417.zip) is available. Insure you follow the flash instructions carefully, HERE, and HERE.

Hello -=$tR|k3r=- Could you run one game benchmark to show how strong is Nvidia GTX 570M? I would like to see how is PhysX performance in Batman Arkham Asylum set to High. I'm sure that the GPU will handle it without problems. If possible can you post built in benchmark result. If you don't have the full game you can use the demo version which doesn't have a benchmark, but it's ok. You can tell us your opinion about the PhysX performance in this game:
Batman: Arkham Asylum - Overview - GeForce
    Thanks in advance.

TBH, I have some concerns with my 570M card, and I feel it would probably not provide a good performance reference for others to consider. As I indicated in my previous post, oddly my 570M is not playing nice with MSI AfterBurner, so I am looking into this.

Perhaps one of the other Owners here, would be so kind?

Wow, three people playing on the same keyboard? Isn't it a bit too crampy for three?

Even so, the 10 simultaneous keys don't register yet, sad case it is..

Cool! Looking forward to it! ;)

The least, MSI has been listening to our complains and opinions, they really make the effort to rectify them for us consumers, thumbs up! =)

However, we don't know when the newer revision keyboard will be ready..

At work, I am a multi-monitor enthusiast. My current computer supports a single external monitor. I am wondering if anyone has tried running the GT780 using the laptop screen with both VGA and HDMI ports operating? (Triple screen sytem  oh yah baby  that's what I'm talking about.) How was your experience?

(Yes, I am aware of the ViDock dock and the other thread with the DIY ViBook-type adapter. I will probably put one together as winter project.)

    ... the wait is killing me ... :D :D

For a 3 monitor set up your laptop will support its screen and one external monitor. For the 2nd external monitor the ViBook SE USB to DVI adapter is what I use and it works just fine. The ViBook SE comes with multiple monitor management software that really makes things easy. We sell them for $139.

Although my keyboard is not what I had expected, I must admit, the touchpad is a lot better on this laptop. Don't know if it is a new revision of touchbpad, or just driver improvements, but it's very pleasant to use. I like the texture and, it's super smooth now. Night/Day difference.

If MSI can just fix this keyboard issue once and for all, it's huge winner IMO.

Did the texture itself change? Or just the responsiveness? On my 780R, it just randomly locks up even with the new drivers.

The texture on the touchpad is exactly the same as what I remember on the gt780R. But the texture of this touchpad met with smooth function is an interesting, positive combination. For me, it's very nice to use. very smooth...

Sorry for the confusion in my previous message.

Yes, I've ran much higher temps on my old laptop for sometime without detriment. The card seems very stable with OC on Core and Shader, but I have had some artifacting and graphical oddities with OC on Memory, so you may not able able to push he memory clocks with every game (without weird visual stuff happening). No crashes of any sort so far.

Hello, everyone! I think I read somewhere in this thread that any upgrades done on stock configurations will void the warranty. Does this mean that we can't even switch out the battery without voiding the warranty? If so, that would be silly. If anything I would want to upgrade to an SSD. Would something like that void the warranty if not installed by an authorized dealer? Thanks in advance!

You will not void the warranty as long as you cause no physical damage swapping a part.
