    I typed gksu "update-manager -c" in terminal
    however, it says

/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/apt/__init__.py:17: FutureWarning: apt API not stable yet
warnings.warn("apt API not stable yet", FutureWarning)

I searched at Google, some suggested download pytho-vte thing.. but I neither know where to download, nor know how to install... can someone please give me a better instruction? or tell me what to do?

It may be attempting to upgrade you to Feisty (7.04) which is still in testing stage. That may be the reason for your error. Other than that, if you need to install that package, I would just search Synaptic for it. These packages are usually in the Ubuntu repositories.
