    i recently downloaded d a m n smaill linux how do i install it on to my harddrive or burn it to a disc

    If you have the ISO, you can use a progrm like Alcohol 120% (the trial will do fine; Google it) to burn the ISO to a disc. Then, backup any data you want, pop the disc in the drive, make sure your CD drive is top of the boot order, and pray you're luck and you chose a laptop-friendly distro.

    (Hint: Mandriva LE2005/Fedora Core 4 sucks on laptops, whereas Ubuntu/kubuntu works great. Can't speak for others.)

    cant i just create a virtual drive and boot it from there

    well..i think u have to go to boot options and then "boot from cd"...so that's why u can't use a virtual drive for it because it has to boot up b4 windows boots up
