Every so often, I will try to load a web page and I will be automatically signed off and brought back to the log-in screen. It happens whenever I try to load the ubuntuguide.org website, and random others on occasion. Any ideas?

    Using Ubuntu 8.04 on R61.

Are you using 3b5? You might try RC1

I'm assuming you are using FF3b5 because RC1 has been released so recently that it probably has not made its way to your desktop yet.

FF3b5 is quite crashy. It crashes on me very often.

But you are describing something strange. Do you mean to say that while loading a web page, your entire desktop goes to hell and you are brought back to the login:/password: dialog?

If that's the case, this is certainly unusual. What graphic card and driver are you using?

No, i'm pretty sure his entire desktop doesn't go to hell and brings him back to GDM, i think he's saying that Firefox forgets his passwords.

If that's the case, "login screen" is not the appropriate terminology.

We do have some non-native English speakers on the forum, so i just bear with it and use my advances language skills to decipher what they mean.

    I'm a non-native English speaker.

As for the meaning, I'd rather ask than assume.

So am i, but I'm talking about people who have slight problems with the English language, but i see where you're coming from on the ask instead of assume. We shall wait for him to post again.

It's a Release Candidate. Alpha Software. Not for everyday use. It could be anything, really. Maybe this site uses cookies to track a user session, but they expire too early or whatever. Who knows.

Best place to report it is Mozilla's Feedback Form or Bug Tracking System:

    http://feedback.mozilla.org/ or https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

it totally crashes on me and brings me back to the log-in screen as if I just turned on the computer.

the graphics card i have is the nVidia Quadro NVS 140M and I have Compiz enabled, so it is the propriety nVidia drivers that allows Compiz to work.

What you are experiencing is definitely unusual. Whether or not the problem is in FF3 or somewhere else I would advise turning off compiz and see whether the problem continues. I've used compiz for several months and found it unstable so I've turned it off until it is demonstrated to my satisfaction that it is stable. I just don't have time to babysit compiz.
