    can i use recovery dis and install the original vista and programs for vmware? So.. use recovery dvds to install virtual drive.

    No, because your recovery DVDs are keyed to work ONLY on your laptop and checks BIOS to do so. VMWare emulates an entire system, including BIOS, so the CDs will probably not work.

    If you can get a hold of a Vista disc, you can use your key to install Vista on from within the Virtual Machine.
