I installed ubuntu 10.04 and tried the compiz cube, that worked fine, very smooth. However the burn effect in close animation that my laptop can not seem to handle. If the application window is small, the burn effect works fine, if the window is larger or full screen, my x200t can not run the effect smoothly. Does that mean I will need to upgrade my gpu?

    Thanks.

Make the particle size smaller, and try turning off smoke. You can't upgrade the GPU in the X200t.

Ahh.. I see. :) I ran across the same issue as you with my 4500MHD. OpenGL is horrible with Intel graphics.
