I have a Thinkpad T61p, and have an Arch partition with Gnome. I tried installing kernel26tp through yaourt in an effort to get my volume controls, and other Fn+ keys to work. But after it installed, I did a restart, but there's no effect. Did I do something wrong or not do something that I should? Is this even the way I'm supposed to get my dedicated keyboard controls to work?

Are you sure that you're running the tp kernel? Arch doesn't automatically create /boot/grub/menu.lst entries. (It goes against the philosophy.) I tried the xen kernel once and I had to manually edit menu.lst to use it.
