Is this an encrypted Maxtor drive? The only thing I can think of is if you could possibly use Wine to run the Maxtor software. I'm not aware of any support in Linux for proprietarily encrypted drives. I'd honestly trust Truecrypt more than the Maxtor software, myself.

There's no support for using this drive under anything but Vista or XP. The only way to access the encrypted part of the drive is by running the Black Armor Manager, which will only run under Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, or Business, (32-bit versions Only and must have Administrator User Privileges), or XP Home, Professional, or Media Center Edition (SP2/32-bit versions only). This post seems to describe accessing the drive by running the Black Armor Manager on XP running as a VM, using Parallels on a Mac. That might mean you could access it on XP/Vista running as a VM, on Linux, although you may be limited to accessing the drive through the VM, and not be able to mount it in Linux anyway.

    Good Luck..
