    gtalk isn't working on pidgin,empathy,google talk on ubuntu 10.04

    i have ubuntu 10.04 on my lappy.I have wi-fi in my hostel,and i have to use proxy for internet.
    So my problem is i can't use pidgin,empathy or google talk ,it gives network error.any solution?

    Did you set up the proxy in Pidgin? Using a proxy, sometimes you just may not be able to use non-HTTP services. I don't know for sure how your proxy is set up.

    I'm guessing you probably only have an HTTP proxy, which may prevent other protocols from connecting. Does Pidgin work elsewhere, and has it worked before on other networks?
