I'd like to move to Ubuntu 11.04 (and update to 11.10? if possible)

but Wubi does not seem to work in Windows 8. When I start up it asks me which OS to boot into but Windows 8 is the only option.

I do not believe I have UEFI boot as I don't think my MoBo supports it.

I think much has changed with the win8 bootloader to the point where wubi is not going to be compatible. It may be in the future, but not today.

I am running Windows 8 DP and Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2. I installed Windows first though. Hope this helps.

You aren't running it with wubi though, right? You installed the normal way (with separate partitions and such)?

Windows 8 is a pre release...you shouldn't expect normal applications to work right. I'm not surprised that this doesn't, and it probably won't for awhile.

Ral, you installed the normal way? It works with the Win8 bootloader?

    Why not dual-boot?

Yes, I might dual boot. Wubi is more convenient but I may just partition and dual boot.
