After installing VirtualBox on Ubuntu 7.04 and adding myself to the group created by the program in order for it to give it permissions to system files, the borders for all my programs and such are gone; I cannot maximize, minimize, resize, or move the programs or folders I open; starting the "Windows" applet in Preferences results in an error simply informing me that it cannot be started; no other information.
I've tried removing my userID from the virtualbox group but to no avail. Please help!

That sounds like your window manager crashed. It happens sometimes, especially under Beryl.
I don't know anything about Virtualbox though, unfortunately, so I don't know where to start looking. Hopefully it just needs you to start Metacity again. -
I'm not running Beryl or Compiz or any other graphic desktop enhancement. Fortunately opening the Terminal and typing "metacity --replace" fixes the problem. I started up Linux today and found that everything seemed to be back to normal. We'll see about that.

Installing programs can sometimes crash metacity, just as it can crash Explorer in Windows. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening again.
Windows are gone...
