Linux is an operating system, not part of Windows, not even associated with Windows. If you want to run Windows programs within Linux, you will need something like wine (a sort of emulator). It would be easier to simply use OpenOffice (or other word processing doc) It's free and can create/edit Word documents.

I think you need to do a little more reading. If you have questions just post back, we have quite a few linux people here.

MS Word will almost certainly run under Wine, and UT 2004 will run NATIVELY on Linux, you don't need to use a Windows compatibility layer like Wine. Since you're already getting a Mac though, I'd highly recommend just using OpenOffice under Linux, and possibly using NeoOffice under OSX (the OpenOffice port to Carbon, the Mac's GUI toolkit)

Well, installing Ubuntu on a Macbook isn't really as simple as it is on a PC because the Macbook doesn't have a BIOS; it has EFI. However, have no fear, because as with anything Linux, someone has found a way. You can find instructions on how to install it with OS X on the Macbook here.

To be honest, I think you need to do a bit more research before you jump into this. This isn't quite as easy a process for a newcomer as it would be on a PC (well, a Windows-based PC that is).
