The only way I will even consider Linux is if I can game on it with Dawn of War 2, which seems incapable because of it needing .NET 3.0. So, is there any virtualization programs (vmware, parallels, etc) that have decent DirectX support?

Ubuntu and other Linux distros, unfortunately, do not support .NET 3.0. As of this moment, there are no virtualisation programmes whose DirectX support make such games requireing .NET 3.0 compatible. I suggest you use Microsoft if you're playing that game.

VirtualBox 3.0.x recently instroduced 3D acceleration support; theoretically one could play DX games within a Windows guest.

I haven't tried to run my Stategy games in Virtualbox yet because I don't mind to reboot for that as I tend to stay there for hours :) The 3D acceleration in VB is new, but you could try it and see what happens.
