Are you upgrading over the network or doing a remote upgrade? If you're just doing a standard network upgrade (i.e. upgrading as normal without using the disc), then it's pretty simple. You can either follow the instructions on the pages you linked to, or you can go to a terminal and type the following:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The upgrade wizard actually popped up, and it started to fetch the files, but after about 20 minutes of no download progress, it reported that it couldn't fetch the files; the connection "timed out" or something like that.

I read in a guide that you have to edit the soures.list file. Is that true?

I couldn't tell you to be honest. I never mess with dist-upgrades. I do too much tweaking to my system to mess with it, cause I know that some added source repo is going to screw it up. Or something like what happened to BigV where an old config file is going to screw with something. I just always find it better to start from scratch.

    sudo update-manager -d -c

I am sure this will work. You don't need to worry about which repository you should fix, or whether if it is beta upgrade instruction. The version you have is depends on the version on repository. Currently there aren't so many fesity fawn repositories yet. Most likely you will end up with achive.ubuntu.com/fesity .... At least, my source list only have this site, and it works almost all apps/utility you need.

Note: you do need check the upgrade several times to have a full functional upgrade. I can't explain why but this is what I did.

I've decided to take notebook_ftw's advice in the end. After waiting overnight for the downloader to fetch the upgrade packages, I woke up to find that few of the packages had been retrieved successfully.

I'm running a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.04 and I must say the results are good. I have Beryl up and running, and all of my favorite programs. I'll keep posting here for any Feisty problems I might encounter. Thanks for the help everyone.
