I just got my Windows 7 upgrade cds from Acer for my AS1410. I figured I would give it a try and plan on sticking with the Acer upgrade method. I have a full development stack on my Ubuntu partition and I want to make sure I can still use it.

Has anyone successfully upgraded their existing Vista OS to W7 on a dual-boot system?

    Any major issues or problems?

    Any problems with GRUB?

Is it true that the W7 upgrade changes or removes the hidden restore partition?

    Thanks in advance.

I was successfully able to upgrade my Vista to Windows 7,but I did encounter some trouble though. Grub will most likely be overwritten, as it was in my case.

Keep in mind I was using Vista's mbr to dualboot not grub. When I tried booting into Linux it said that it couldn't find any OS.

I had to use my Arch Linux CD to reinstall grub on my Arch Linux partition, then everything worked out fine.

I suggest you be very careful when upgrading to windows seven. You will most likely have to reinstall grub from a linux CD.

Thanks. I did have to reinstall grub to dual boot, but it wasn't too hard. I used a Ubuntu Live USB and THESE instructions.
