I have been using Ubuntu 9.04 for almost a month and I am enjoying all its features: the graphics, speed, and other specs. I didn't have any problems with OpenOffice.org Word Processor even though I was used to MS Word 2007 due to slight and minor differences. However, when I was making my slide presentations for schoolworks in OpenOffice.org Presentation, I had some difficulties regarding the fluctuating toolbars of fill-in colours and font colours if I am adjusting text alignments insides the shapes I customised. How come the toolbars just keep fluctuating and not just stay where they are whatever command I'll do? Even some of the efficient techniques, shortcuts, and commands that I mastered in MS Powerpoint 2007 were not working well with OpenOffice.org Presentation. Familiarising myself with the new commands really ate my time in composing a slide master. I was even late for school because of it :(

Do you know a Linux software or download that has a similar interface with that of MS Office Ppt. 2007? :(

    Thanks in advance...

Well, you really can't expect something that's not Office '07 to be like Office '07. If you do want to learn how to use the OpenOffice suite, I suggest you not do it when you're under time pressure. ;) To answer your question, there is no linux application that is exactly Office '07, and that should be perfectly sensible. Many here will probably suggest that you try getting Office '07 to work in WINE. Personally, I have Office '07 installed and running using Crossover Linux Pro, but I still much prefer using OpenOffice. It might just take some laid-back getting-used-to. No time pressure. :p

I don't like open office presentation so I still use Powerpoint 2007.

you know I have yet to use presentation from open office and I need to make a presentation about a project I did for work. I might use it for that and give it a try.

You know, as much as I am a fan of open-source software, MS Office 2007 is just really awesome. They've made it so much better than 2003 and previous. There's no comparison, I think. O '07 is in a league of it's own.

I still boot back into Windows so I can do documents/presentations.

Is Crossover Linux Pro a downloadable Linux software that can be infused with my Ubuntu 9.04? How can I run office 07 using Crossover Linux Pro? Some details please? :) Thanks in advance :)

Crossover is a non-free version of WINE. It's a lot more refined and easy to use, though WINE could possibly work just as well.

Did you purchase your Crossover Linux Pro? I recently downloaded the trial version and installed MS Office 2007. Everything worked fine, Word, Excel, Ppt. However, in the ppt., whenever I resize or dragging its location (using the mouse) of a shape or an image after inserting them, I can't see how they are being dragged or resized although they are resized and can be dragged. The ppt. screen just gets somehow has a thin line in its working page. One more thing is the delay in inputting the letters I type in MS Office using Crossover Linux Pro.

Are those bugs? How can I fix that? Is that the cost of downloading it free and not purchasing it?

Wait, what would you recommend me to use, Wine or Crossover Linux for my work usage (i.e. word, excel, and ppt.)? Thanks in advance. Really need your help here, guys...

I got my copy of Crossover through academic discount. Yeah, there are some issues with running Office 07 even in crossover. Since you seem to be a real Office power user, I don't think that either crossover or wine will be good enough for your needs. The best bet you have might be running Windows XP in VirtualBox. It's very fast and light if all you use it for is things like Office.

VitualBox? How can I install that? Where can I download Virtual Box? Does it have Ppt., Word, and Excel? Basically, those are the only things I need in MS. Does VirtualBox have the same functions as MS Word, Excel, and Ppt. 07?

About Crossover Linux, can someone give me a step-by-step uninstall guide? I want to get rid of it. It occupies a lot of my memory and it's really not worth 'cos MS Office ppt. really lags. Thanks in advance...

VirtualBox is a virtual machine, you install Windows in it. Have you discovered Add/Remove Programs yet?

The OpenOffice development team has actually been experimenting with integrating the ribbon interface into their next major release, but at this point there is no comparable office software that is similar to MS 07.

Honestly, if you're looking for similar software, then you should just run Office 07.

Best you ask at the Crossover forums.
