As said in the title, I'm using 7.10 and I have downloaded the 8.10 ISO to burn on a CD. Well, I went ahead and put the CD in, but CD/DVD Creator would not recognized and CD nor would it in "Computer." I took out the drive and put it back into my laptop but it still did not work.

I'm not a Ubuntu/Linux expert, so please tell me what script/code to put into Terminal if needed.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's a Toshiba Satelite.

What OS is on the notebook now?

I use the k3B CD/DVD burning software program and you can verify the burn to make sure there's no issues. There's a few settings that I recommend using though so it works properly. Use 'don't eject the DVD after burn' and choose 'no multi-session' and you never have a coaster - and it will verify fine.

If you only have Windows, you can use Nero to start with. I don't know anything about CD/DVD Creator but isn't there a setting for burning an .ISO file? Windows probably doesn't know what to do with it because it's just an .iso file. But, your CD/DVD burning software program should have options for burning an .iso file. Just do that and then you should be able to create the CD.

If you still have trouble, maybe try one of these programs (free DVD iso burner - burns .iso to CD or DVD):

I found out that I just had to restart the laptop. I took out the drive and re-inserted it, then when it finally finished booting up again it displayed the drive.
