Those guys just never stop.
If they're focusing on netbook systems and such, it'll be interesting to see how many more optimizations they make. 9.04 is already fast booting and pretty speedy all around IMO. -
Geez, they just released 9.04. They really need to slow down I think.

Nah, this is good. If you are producing a new release every six months, best to keep at it. I mean you can obtain the alpha but they also allow folks to download the build of the day if they want to really follow development.
I'm glad to see that they are focusing on netbooks next time around. I've heard not-so-great things about the NBR version of Ubuntu. Beyond some of the performance issues, I think the mistake rests in trying to copy the style of UI that Asus presented with its disastrous version of Xandros. No one wants a half-functioning desktop that looks like a child's toy.
Better to try preserve as much as possible the standard desktop experience--eeebuntu style---which is what most users want I think. With the failure of Xandros for Asus's eeepc, and Dell's recent promise to offer both windows and Ubuntu versions of netbooks side by side, Ubuntu could really step into the gap here and be the netbook OS. Given what I know--and really, who am I anyway?--I'm really surprised they didn't put more thought into the jaunty NBR. -

I dunno, I use my desktop a lot. Then again, my real desks are both a big mess too. I kind of like having my various projects and files available on the desktop while the apps are all in menus.

Nice looking goals. I guess that's why we've recently heard about Ubuntu One, http://www.linux-magazine.com/online/news/dropbox_clone_ubuntu_one
