I'll probably stick with Gnome for awhile, but will have to try KDE as well sometime, I suppose.

Have you tried the latest 8.04 updates? I know they've made lots of changes to the xorg server. I only have a G5, so I don't know what broke. What's the G9 do?

Funny, I used OpenSuSE 10 before. I like the look of my KDE desktop a lot better than the Gnome one I got by default in Ubuntu 8.04. Oh well.

no, i tried it when it first came out and the G9 buttons wouldnt work even with the custom configurations so i gave up and went back to 7.10. I also tried fedora 9 but that was a complete mess...

im hoping that the new version will work because im finding 7.10 to be quite unstable lately, or even if the new fedora works. 7.10 is so old already :(

You should try downloading an 8.04.1 LiveCD and see if it works better for you. I'd bet they've fixed a lot... I've noticed a lot of updates have really helped issues I had early on. Now I'm down to crap like the VPN connection killing knetworkmanager and so one, stuff no one apparently cares or knows about.
