    I have the following problem:

I have downloaded mail in thunderbird (IMAP) on machine 1.
The online mail account has been shut down.
I want to tranfer the downloaded mail in thunderbird on machine 1 to other machines.

I tried copying the .thunderbird directory from machine 1.
This works the first time thunderbird is invoked on other machines. After that, the downloaded folders disapper in thunderbird.

    Any solution ?

I've never transferred Thunderbird mailbox directories from one machine to another successfully, even though this webpage says it's straightforward and easy. What I've done is use the Import/Export Thunderbird addon from this developer, and then import all of the old mbox files from the thunderbird mail directory, into my new Thunderbird installation.

    Good Luck..
