I just discovered that, when Compiz crashes, I can simply type compiz in the terminal to restart it! If you already knew that, then WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME? :p

I had tried compiz-- restart, and tons of different stuff, and I think I even asked about it in some thread here, but the solution was so simple. Nice.

    Won't ` compiz &` work better?

We all learn something new everyday. Though, with varying degrees of complexity, of course. ;)

Why's that? You mean like to call nvidia-settings or something?

    So true. :p

I thought I did ... anyways, you should've read my mind.

There are plenty of commands I know that may be interesting to you, some will mess your machine beyond recognition and you'll never be able to boot it again and some are great fun. I couldn't possibly tell you every single one.

    Nice.

Speaking of cool commands, I use Launchy in Windows, and have the hotkey set to Ctrl+L. So, out of habit, when I wanted to open a file in Linux, I hit Ctrl+L, and it actually opened a dialogue called 'Open Location' that performs a similar function to Launchy! Awesome!

Shuts down the X server. So what, does that have the the same effect as typing compiz. or what?

The & is so it doesn't close after closing the terminal.

Ah. I see. Yes, that would explain why it's been closing after I close the terminal. But it does restart after that, so either way, it works. And that's what's important. :D

You do know that Launchy is available for Linux right? You also surely know that Gnome-Do is better than Launchy on Linux too right?

Yes, you told me about Gnome-Do, and I've tried it. I liked Launchy better, but I didn't know Launchy was available for Linux.

Did you try the new version of Gnome-Do? The one in Ubuntu 8.04's repo's is old and sucks.
