Just had a perfect SuSE 10.1 install on my lappy. Completly painless. Coming from the some of the older Suse's thats a relief :) The only thing it didnt do in the install was decent video drivers and wireless. Both of those were fixed easily. ATI.com and I downloaded their drivers for the x700. And the wireless was fixed by going into Yast and installing the wifi manager off the 5th install CD.

I tried Ubuntu/Kubuntu on my laptop before, and I do like them, and recomend them to anyone looking for a nice reliable linux distro, I just like Suse better. To each their own :D

Congratulations! Last SuSE version I tried was 10.0, and it was not good, to say the least. I have heard better things about 10.1, especially since they remade the ISOs. But, I have still been recommended by SuSE users to switch to the SMART package manager should I ever reinstall it.

Though, my next project is getting a stable setup of Arch Linux going on this machine.

Are you going to try gaming on your laptop? If so, you should share your experiences with that.

Speed, customisability, more bleeding edge than most distros.

10.2 is even better. I just have it installed. Had a small issue with ATI driver but now it is resolved with the new driver release. Give it a try along with your arch linux! :D

I have not played much games myself on linux, supertux seems a good one for me... :D :D
