Has anyone setup a linux box to specifically listen to port 515 to accept incoming print jobs and then just send it to file? I plan on using incron to watch for the file. I just need to understand more about the file creation.

Actually, I need it to listen on port 9100 not 515, not sure if that would change anything.

Would modifying the CUPS configuration to listen to port 9100 and set up a printer to output to PostScript be a possible solution?
Configure CUPS to print to file?

EDIT: Forgot to add a disclaimer: I haven't set up CUPS to do this before... -

i've tried setting up a thin client (low cpu/ram etc) with ubuntu CUPS to accept print jobs.
just connect the printer to the thin client, set ti up as a normal printer (but allow printer sharing
then for every other computer, add a network printer pointing to the thin client at ip:9100
