Basically, I am looking for solutions for laptop twicking under Linux. I am using Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Dark. But really not sure how easily/hardly to twick your laptop using Linux. I guess the distribution shouldn't be matter since we can always compile from source.

CPU overclock/underclock? More importantly, GPU overclock/underclock?

Why this is interesting to me?
Overclocking gives me higher performance where underclock buy me some battery life even it might be small.

Not so many tools out there for Linux compare to Windows based. I guess any successful story will help others.

    Thx, Pitabred.

    But any actual experience? Anyone?

Note that coolbit was disabled by nivida from Mobile GPU. Any update from Go 7600/7200/6150/6100 users?

For nVidia GPUs under linux, you may want to look at nvclock. I haven't tried it on any of their mobile GPUs (although they are supported), but it works fine with my aging MX440 card in my desktop rig.

So, besides overclocking it, did you actually underclock it? Maybe sounds silly, but saving battery life is another benefit.

I use ATITools on my laptop, and freez my screen by reducing it down to 50MHz. :p 2 much for it. Would ATI powerplay do similar things?

*shrug* No, I've never tried underclocking... battery life isn't as important for a desktop machine. :p
