Hello, Just wanted to see if you guys can help me with this issue.

I'm currently having troubles with the Linux Instant Messaging programs Pidgin and Kopete. I know Kopete is more a KDE program, but I gave it a shot after pidgin wouldn't work and neither allow me to log into an AIM account.

For starters, my passwords are correct. I tried with the default log in settings, then change the settings for the proxies, and nothing done there would work. I also attempted to uninstall Pidgin, and reinstall it. This did not work. I'm not sure whether or not my firewall may be interfering, and it was quite a while ago that I was working on that, so I'm not quite sure which one i put in, but it runs without me seeing it.

Sorry for me being a pretty basic newb when it comes to Linux, I've only been tinkering with this particular dist. of ubuntu for 6 mos. I can get around pretty well and understand how to use the terminal and such, but I can't troubleshoot for crap.

Some direction would help. oh, I've also looked through the Help sections of Ubuntu forums and Pidgin help, not coming up with much. Thanks in advance.

I'm not going to be much help but you could try jumping on xchat and visiting the ubuntu irc channel. Those guys are pretty knowledgeable and might be able to help talk you through a fix. Just be patient, they are often overwhelmed. Also, I make it a point to try and answer 3-5 questions for every question of mine that gets answered.

I shall give it a try. I wish I knew much, however, I really don't. I'm on the bottom end of the troubleshooting spectrum. I'll give this a try though, thank you.
