    Just Q:
Anyone here experienced computer virus on his linux box? (not me).
I cant imagine, i download some file, change permit rights to 'x' and run it :-D.
Other thing is, if your linux is hacked, but virus as we know it from windows, i can't imagine.
As for me, i'd use antivirus only in the case i wanted to protect some other users with windows.

I think the only real reason you would even bother with AV on Linux is if you were running files back and forth from your Linux machine to a Windows machine and didn't want to infect the Windows machine....(then again...bwahahaha)

remembering of course you would have needed to allow the 'virus' (are there any Linux kernel virii out there?!) to install itself in the first place...

Something like a rootkit is not as likely to be picked up by this even if you were silly enough to let one access your core system ;)

If you are running an Linux based email server you need a virus scanner to scan the attachments for (windows) viruses. That is about the only reason why you would need one of these.

Yes....I've planted a keygen in my home directory because they usually set off alarms....and Bitdefender picked it out....
