so there's a new project out there working on getting OpenGL 3d acceleration working within virtual machines like Xen or Qemu on Linux called VMGL http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~andreslc/xen-gl/
It's apparently totally hardware independent (so basically, if 3d accell works in Linux, it works with VMGL). It's very early in development, and relatively slow still, but it's really cool stuff. In the future, as virtualization gets faster, hopefully running virtualized games will get much easier.

Good thing to see
But it's very difficult to do.Because the GPU memory and also some operations will likely be shared between the Client and Host OS.
(Even though it doesn't look like it, a GPU should constantly redraw the screen, it's always done through the GPU so we don't notice a thing) -
Nice to know they are working on it,, soon we all wont need powerful laptops just a basic one, and remote to our ACTUAL gaming pc/server
Neat-o stuff! 3d accel in a VM!
