I have just recently started GNOME. I am using the default file manager Nautilus and it seems fine for my uses except for one thing. Every folder I double click and open, opens up in a new window. Is there a way to have them open up in the same window? I have looked through the options and did not see anything to do this. Thanks.

What you want is browser mode, or some such. I believe it's right under the single/double click option.

edit -> preferences -> behaviour -> always open windows in browser (or something similar)

Thanks that worked. I would have never guessed that would be the option to select. Was looking for something like "open new windows in parent window" ....

    +rep to both of you.
