This is what I mean [IMG]

The titles & posts in this forum are all big while the signitures are normal. On other forums I go, it's just too small.

Is it possible to get something like on Windows? I've already installed the fonts but they look even worse

Yeah I had font problems in FF3b5 in Hardy. I used the font called "Nice" [change it in prefs] and it's slightly better. But still the browsing experience is terrible. =(.

It's possible to install FF2 too right? Otherwise I'll get Opera

I'm gonna try to install FF2. It's like the IE8 Dev Beta, which now supports xhtml but the xhtml pages are all looking weird on it. That's why they included IE7 emulation lol

I've used Xubunu, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, DreamLinux and a few other distro's and the font in Firefox 3 beta 5 is just fine.

Well looks like FF2 isn't installable, at least by me >_>. It's not on synaptic (nor is opera) and otherwise FF2 is only in manual installation, without instructions

Just installed Opera and everything is fine :)

Yeah, you can install FF2. You'll have to purge 3b5 though.

Guess we aren't as lucky as you. ={.

JCMS....I had the same problem with FF3b5....I installed the Segoe UI font and changed FF3 font to Segoe UI size 16 on the first page in dialogue, the changed where I could to Segoe UI on the second page of dialogue and left sizes alone there. Transformed the whole experience.....no more HUGE forum thread titles, better looking posts, etc.

EDIT: UNCHECK allow pages to use their own fonts ! I'll email you the Segoe UI font if it's a hassle finding it....there's a recent thread around here about that where I referenced where I found it.

FF3.5 is terrible in Ubuntu. I might become an opera convert this week.

I've always been an opera fan....think I'll see what they've done with 9.5b linux style....tried 9.5a in Vista, and had to uninstall.

Be careful not to create future problems with your fixes. Most web pages appear fine in FF3b5. I think what is happening is that in some areas of the web pages served by NBR the css selects a font which FF3b5 is not able to use. It ends up being substituted for something lower down the list of desirable fonts.

I just did a test: I installed FF2 in Hardy and started it in safe-mode with a fresh profile: the fonts look exactly like in FF3! I'm starting to doubt there is really a problem with FF3. Maybe one of the Ubuntu-specific packages which come with firefox (e.g. firefox-gnome-support or ubufox or something else) have a bug in them.

edit you're xorg.conf and add the line:

    Code:
    Option "UseEdidDpi" "False"
in the Device section to make it look like this:
    Code:
    Section "Device"
        Identifier "Configured Video Device"
        Driver "nvidia"
        VendorName "NVIDIA"
        BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series"
        BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
        Screen 0
        Option "UseEdidDpi" "False"
    EndSection
The nvdriver use some weird dpi setting even the login windows look iffy, This fixed the big bold font in the login window and the iffyness on ff, now it looks just like on windows as it should. :D

    It's
    Code:
    sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
it you want the direct command to edit the file.

    I'll check that too, thanks.

Also, is there a way to make FF's bookmark appear like IE & Opera?

EDIT: Ahaha nice it works! Thanks!
