Does anyone with a laptop (MSI or not) know how to install this, it seems the Geforce 870 card is a problem? I cannot get anything to display after the GRUB install menu. It's just blank, I've tried pressing 'e' from the grub and inserting nomodeset, xforcevesa, nvidia.modeset=0, noveau.modeset=0 (all on separate occasions not together), also tried combination with removing 'quiet splash' line in combination with all the modeset lines I listed. Basically tried everything that's posted on this topic already and I'm out of ideas. Fast shutdown/startup is off, secure boot off. I'm not really a big linux user, been trying different distros in VB and decided I'd like to run Mint.

    Thx

    A couple things to try:

    1) Add "text" to the command line and see if it will boot to a console only.
    2) Wait long enough that you believe the GS60 has booted and try to SSH into it with another machine (assuming you have one handy)

For the initial start up, I *think* it will be using the onboard i915 graphics, so the 870M card shouldn't be an issue if that's the case. You can also add drm.debug=0x0e to the command line to get some additional debug output from the i915 driver. Again this assumes that i915 is loading first.

Did you go through a graphical installation of Mint?>

Is it really blank image, or does the screen simply turn off?

    Try acpi_osi="Linux".
