    Loud Popping Noise on shut down

    Hello. My laptop, every time i shut it down from ubuntu, makes two large loud popping noises.

    How do i disable these? They are quite annoying.

    Same here 12.04 LTS, I have found muting the sound just B4 shutdown fixes it in my Dell D610 (I only use internal speakers)
    I did find this link + will try the term commands and report back 12.04 - Loud pop on shutdown/reboot - Ask Ubuntu
    Same here the coomands in the link did not fix this

    Failed. Did not work. Even deleting the file did nothing.

    Some guy says i need to turn off EAP. How do i do that?

    I just installing linux on my y410p and have encountered the same problem :(
    Has anyone managed to come up with a fix yet?

    Do you have any settings in BIOS that are sound related? You could try turning off sound there and testing. I moved on to Bodhi Linux and no longer have this issue.

    I completely disabled sound and I'm still getting the popping on shutdown :(
    Seems to be an Arch Linux issue. I guess I'll have to switch to another distro.

    Could it be the mobo or sound card? I've read these kinds of pops are unavoidable with a raspberry pi, for example.

    Issue was fixed on all distros running 3.13 kernel or newer :)

    Still getting the popping with 3.17 kernel on Arch Linux. :(

    Edit: yay. I fixed it! Adding:
    options snd-hda-intel model=,generic
    to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf fixed it for me.
