You can click on System --> Administration --> Restricted drivers manager to enable the NVidia drivers.

Try using the method mentioned above; it will be easier.

Envy is a package that helps you to download and install the driver directly from Nvidia's website.
But like other have said, enable the restrict driver(which basically installed the same or a slightly old driver also made by Nvidia) will be a much easier way, plus using the restrict driver makes it easier when you want to upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 in the future.

thanks dice....I'm using the restricted driver, and have direct rendering enabled, etc...compiz and emerald running, cool man, cool... :D

The reason I ask is that my video card, an MXMII modular Nvidia 8600gt 256mb gddr3, on runs at top speed (unfortunately) using the tweaked driver from the Asus website. My vendor, who speaks to Taiwan regularly, thinks it does something with the vid card bios to give it all it's performance. For example, the newest Nvidia driver, 169.07, or whatever it is now, will run fine, but my 3dmark06 score in windows will drop from a potential 4500 to 2300. Very strange. I guess you get the picture...thanks again.

EDIT: Because of the above, being stuck with one driver if I want peformance, I'll be changing the card out to an 8800 which is announced to come out for the C90s.
